This feels like an opera or like something that should be in a theater, it’s just amazing the amount of details this song has. It doesn’t feel like prog metal where you know it’s building towards a something “impressive”, every part in this song feels necessary to the story, special 10/10 song for me

If I ever feel like life is not worth living, I listen to Opeth and suddenly I feel like I want to live forever just to listen to them. This band is truly life changing, even their latest, softer albums. I am very glad to see that you have found them :)

Once you started reacting to this album I couldn't wait for this song to pop up! To answer your question it was the bass making those funky sounds in the beginning.

There's a lot of Black Metal on this album and this track specifically and you really seemed to enjoy these moments, so perhaps one day you should give the genre a shot. People have recommended Agalloch before and I totally agree, it's a great place to start. But perhaps you should visit some early Katatonia first (Brave Murder Day specifically), not only do you get to hear Mikaels great vocals again, but it's also musically very influencial on Agalloch so you get to take the full journey basically.

My Arms Your Hearse & Ghost Reveries are my two favorite albums by Opeth. Most everything they have done is just amazing, glad you are digging them, man. Their music saved my life, and that's not hyperbole or an over-exageration.

I'm so glad to finally see someone take the Opeth journey and experience the same amazement to their music as I did the first time I listened. Opeth have played a big part in my life for the past 21 years and I still haven't tired of any of their work right up to Heritage. I'm not really a fan of Mikaels new 70's keyboard prog sound (the last 4 albums) but Opeth will always be in my soul. You've got a treat coming with the next 4 albums; they are when Opeth were at their absolute best. Enjoy.
