In Heir Apparent, when the guitar kicks in, it sounds like thunder. Then the piano comes in and it sounds like the rain drops hitting the window. This is not only one of the most incredible pieces of music from Opeth, this is one of the best and most epic pieces of music ever written.

I always looked at this song as being their love letter to the era they were leaving behind, musically. The ending being a modernized version of a riff that could have been on Morningrise. Plus it's a summation of their influences from this era: Morbid Angel, Bathory, old obscure prog rock.
@Censeo3 жыл бұрын
Omg, this is how conspiracy theories starts. Some dude is mostly in their head and starts interpreting the world through that lens. Of course it doesn't matter if Opeth fans start believing @Sacramentum D here, but just so you know, comments like these are common on the internet and you should just be mindful and not seep it in without questioning it

This entire album is peak Opeth. Heir Apparent is also the last song ever sung completely in growls. This album also marks a shift for Opeth, as they felt they completely mastered this style of playing and shifted to what they are now. Incredible band. We are lucky to be alive and hear this.

If you guys ever do a deep dive into Opeth like you have other bands, you'll notice a lyrical trend Mikael has with the word "sorrow" and his interpretation of the word. There's something to that. Explore more within the watershed album, a lot of it has to do with a personal relationship expirience Mikael had with a past partner and it's very emotionally heavy. The song Hessian Peel is one that needs to grace your ears! Beautifully crafted music.

Watershed is underrated by their standards during the heavy days. Also, Caligula's Horse is painfully underrepresented on this channel. Where's Paravarium when you need him?

I'm glad you finally had a proper Opeth reaction. You have to be a little careful on how you approach them, usually they are better as an album band which is inherently difficult to do in a reaction series, because the sections have a lot more power when compared to the previous songs on the album. Mastodon is another band that you need to revisit, I remember you not liking "Roots Remain", which is an amazing song but it doesn't make as much sense by itself. Maybe the Crack The Skye title track, or Sleeping Giant, or Jaguar God. AND I AM SEEING BOTH BANDS IN DECEMBER WITH Zeal and Ardor!!! It's Gonna be sick!!

This song kills but it is also quite random in places. I absolutely adore that ending but its random as hell not relating to the rest of the song. I also think that section before the second thrash drop was needlessly lengthening the song and could have been cut. Still one of my favourite songs from Opeth. Its driven by rhythm instead of melody and harmony.
