Witam ponownie. Pozdrawiam serdecznie jeszcze raz. Grasz obecnie w jakiejś kapeli?
@CzarnyHusarz5 жыл бұрын

is the scream at 1:20 a false cord scream or a fry scream? any advice on how to hold a scream tha long? Great cover btw
@CzarnyHusarz4 жыл бұрын
Hey! Sorry for late reply. To be honest I never wondered what technique I use. I just learned it back when there were no tutorials on youtube for the harsh vocals. What I can tell it's not that loud in real life as a "real scream" is or just regular low growl. Compressor does it's job to level it accordingly with growls. To scream this long I use very little air to create this sound. It's really hard to explain it on paper. Can't come up with some sensible pieces of advice. Sorry, you just have to find your own way. Cheers!

@@CzarnyHusarz no worries, the advice about the compressor was actually pretty useful. have a good one fellow opeth fan

Pretty good cover. I was gonna attempt the same song. There are so many riffs, leads, bridges in there I don't know how it's possible to play 13 minutes straight without any mistakes. I usually to lazy to record again if I make a mistake. How long did it take to capture this performance?
@CzarnyHusarz4 жыл бұрын
To be honest, the mistakes you make are the personification of your lazyness and not practicing enough. I have the same. We all make mistakes, it's a normal thing. I made them too back then and still do. The reason is that I don't practice enough. To achieve "perfect" arrangement you need to really devote and sacrifice many hours of your regular day for practicing. When I was a teenager, I used to spend up to 4 hours a day noodling on my guitar, but with one crucial mistake - playing the same over and over again, not really learning anything new, just staying in my comfort zone. It's literally the worst thing you can do to your playing. You need constant challenges and moving out of the comfort zone. It changed a bit for me when I started listening to Opeth. Their songs were challenging and with great amount of different riffs, it gave my fingers a workout i really needed. You just have to learn new stuff everyday, not only practice one song to death. If you learned forest of october, now learn something from morningrise or whatever. Sorry, it's the only way. You need to spend lots of hours with your guitar and practice visely, use metronome. I can't remember how long it took me to record it, few hours for sure. Note that I make a cut when acoustic guitars appears, it's easier to record this way, yet it's not really a honest presentation of your skill. Good luck!

Hey what technique do you use for the harsh vocals? I tried fry but it’s quiet and strains my throat, even though I use the diaphragm. With false chord, I can do only do low growls because my vocal range is a baritone.
@CzarnyHusarz4 жыл бұрын
To be honest I don't even know what fry or false chord is, but it reminds me of all the -core stuff which I always despised. For growls I just lower my voice and use the sound you make when cleaning your throut and add power through diaphragm. I learned it just by trying to mimic what vocalists on my favourite albums do on the records. If you feel pain or you have trouble with your regular voice then stop immediately. It is supposed to be painless, and you should give your vocal chords time to get used to do it on regular intervals. Whenever you will feel your throat to be sore, stop for this day. And try tomorrow. Eventually those sessions will gradually become longer as you built some sort of stamina. As for the high screams they are quiet on it's own. You make it harder with compressor.
