This band is actually a big influence on Jinjer and Tatiana's vocals. Mikael, the mastermind behind Opeth, does all the vocals and switches effortlessly between the clean and growling live as well. On top of being one of the guitarists. They have so many styles, far beyond what this song even showed, that you definitely need to hear a few more songs to get a real feel for them. Gonna request a slightly mellower one, A Fair Judgment. Live or album version are both good.

Fun Fact: Opeth is one of Jinjer's biggest inspirations. I think you'll really enjoy their stuff. In their more recent albums, Mikael Akerfeldt dropped the growls. Might be a bit more palatable, but there are masterpieces in every one of their albums for me. If I had to suggest one with growls, I'd say Blackwater Park--and for one without, Folklore. Let me be honest here. I am addicted to Opeth. I went to 11 shows in my time. I might be a Mikkael Akkerfeld fan girl. But your honest reaction to, what I would label as one of Opeth's masterpieces, (or, like Mikkael put it at the latest show I went, where they played Harlequin Forrest: difficult to play, horrible to sing 🤣) just sums up my first experience with that song 💕💕💕 I just love the complexity and surprises at every corner. And, yet still, if you're used to their work you'll find their signiture in every song. That's why I love Opeth so much! And for the outro: just listen to deliverance 🤣😇👍

I had never heard of Opeth when I went to a metal festival because Metallica was performing and in one of the time gaps we stepped into a big tent to get away from the sun too and Opeth was just starting. Everyone was lighting up to smoke weed (Netherlands) for this band and the crowd was older. I don't normally like grunting but they are just as good live and I was really impressed. It doesn't really matter that much which song it is you always feel right in the middle of the experience as there are so many transitions constantly. I understood why it was attractive to all the guys smoking weed, haha. Amazing musicians who make the song as long as they need to.

The first Opeth I got was "Sorceress" and I liked it. The second I got was, I believe "Red Rocks" live, and I put it on to listen, and was like "Shit. I downloaded the wrong fucking .mp3, this is not Opeth" see, cuz Sorceress has no death vocals. So once I figured out it was indeed them, I assumed this must be their original singer. The main grab for me was his warm, buttery, mostly baritone, but able to slide into tenor with ease. His superb vibrato and effortless delivery. All of it...and then I finally figured out they were this odd hybrid band, and wasn't sure how to feel, as I abhor death vocals. So, when a song came up that had them, I would simply skip-a-roo. Boom. Next track. But THEN, I realized that I was missing a hell of alot of good instrumental work by doing this. So now, I just wait patiently for the good vocals to glide in and save the song. I do admit, that alot of his death vocals, fit into the confines of the song, and are not arbitrary. So, I listen to it all, and I am starting get a little more desensitized to them. It's just like, fuck, such a perfect singing voice, and he chooses to not use it, and go with grunting. Help me understand...will death vocals ever grow on me? I do like Epica, and they throw some in here and again, and I got used to that, so maybe it's not death vocals I don't like, it's Opeth, or what I thought was Opeth, using them.
