Trying to make sense of the chronology here. Ant frequently says that "he was with his wife (Jen) for 9 years, and then was with his girlfriend (Melinda) for 9 years" -- Melinda's Lobster Girl sex fiasco was July 1999, so, if they really did start 'dating' immediately after that appearance (or slightly before it??), that works out to just about nine (mid-1999 to early-2008). If there was any gap from Lobster-Day to hooking up, it was less. And Anthony is notably coy about "not wanting to be exact about his romantic timelines," probably so as not to trip up. I wonder if they got back together? Or if there was a longer stretch of stuff during the marriage? Or if Ant was somehow in danger of additional infidelity info skewing his divorce/alimony situation? There's always a weird cover-up shroud around this relationship.

Melinda Haber (“Lobster Girl”) comes into the studio two or three times, stripping down to save a lobster from torture, then disappearing into a closet to do various oral things to Kevin “Spaz,” THEN making some additional flirty sexy comments on-air which lead to then-wife Jen Cumia phoning in to say “Hey, this chick sounds frisky, we should bring her home.” The threesome followed by divorce is fairly well-known history - there’s some sketchy events right around the beginning involving other cast-members (even Opie, though not much evidence backing that up) which remain murky. You’ll note they are very careful to NEVER associate Melinda’s name with the Lobster Girl bit, and, even years after that (following the Melinda-Opie blowup), Anthony rarely if ever refers to her as anything besides “my girlfriend of nine years.” There’s something muddy there.

Yeah. Weird sketchy shit with Melinda Haber in those early days. She came into the studio "to save a lobster," and f**ked at least one staffmember (Kevin 'Spaz' Martin) in-studio -- there are strange rumors that she + Opie maybe had some short-lived thing -- then Anthony brought her home for a long stretch of threesomes ("my wife says she sounds fun"), which ultimately ended his marriage. In fairness, Ant stayed with Melinda for 8-9 yrs (not always faithfully), and Opie started blocking her from studios and publicity events during that time. Cumia still talks about how 'the poor treatment' drove a wedge between him + Hughes, their chemistry went sour after they weren't going on the Ant-Jen-Opie-Sandy double dates anymore, etc. There's some lingering hush-hush deal where they won't identify Melinda as Lobster Girl, or won't (can't?) talk about the sex-in-the-studio thing, or Opie/Ant just silently agreed not to discuss her after the tension. I wonder if someone (or the execs) threatened legal action. Seemed extreme.
