I think Vos had to be there, just for that first call. He was a weird outlet for Op & Ant, but also the guy to get the situation back in order (which is kinda odd, I know). I don't really like Vos too much either, but he was crucial to that conversation.

Was a different time, Sterns still around but nothing at all what it used to be. People just don't get upset about the shock jock thing anymore, plus it's just getting too inconvenient to listen to these shows now in the age of Podcasting and KZbin. Thank god the crazy fans recorded just about everything over the years, would all be lost otherwise

Early O&A when you could tell Opie was having fun were fucking great. EVERY episode with Patrice was epic, but Anthony is the funniest non-comedian I've ever heard. That being my opinion I'll stand by it and follow it up with a "Jesus Christ could Anthony destroy with any impression." Podcasts took over and now we have to pick and choose our fun which is just as solid but more difficult.

ZOMBOID I don’t think Opie was having a good time at all. Apparently, he had Compound Media on hold for an hour, and this was just to get someone to talk about his show after the “haircut” he had to take. This was good, but I had no delusions of them getting back together, in Opie’s mind he would be bending the knee if he squashed everything. And fuck, Vos HATES him now.

@@citypopFM Nailed it. It's just too bad they only did a few of these cross show phoners before it went back to taking shots at one another. For all of the Opster's massive amount of character flaws, gotta say, it doesn't feel like he was the one to blow this up and prevent it from coming true. He loves Anthony and would have been so on board for some type of reunion. But only if he felt like Anthony wanted friendship out of it and not just business partnership. Which is kinda silly at their age to even care how good of friends you are. Not sure what got Ant and Jim going so hard at Opie after this semi reunion happened. But it's pretty much a completely dead idea at this point.

Hey, sincere question for you. You’re a long time fan you said, so what are your thoughts on viewer’s criticism of Opie? Every video is filled with “Opie sucks”. I can’t say he was amazing or funny, but as a long time listener myself, I’m finding it harder and harder to continue jumping on the bandwagon and hating opie, despite him being part of the show I loved. Does that make sense? In terms of I’m not saying he was funny, but that I don’t really remember people hating him so much while the show was on, and before Anthony got himself fired. Even if there are very few sound bites of Opie being good on air, we still loved the show right? And now that they’re all apart, they’re no where near the combination of all three. With Ant and Jim still funny, there was obviously another variable that made O&A a hit we still discuss today. Sorry for the long comment

Opie only had success with Anthony and it pissed him off that he can't carry the brand without Anthony, he will never get back together with Anthony until he realizes he made himself second fiddle on his own show, but if you read this Opie you and Anthony have an opportunity to make millions with the ability to be your own boss taking O N A to pod casting. The brand needs you both to be a great success you both are idle at best solo.

I feel like Ant was still hoping Opie and Jimmy would join him on Compound at this point. Otherwise why wouldn't Ant just lay into Opie? Also you know someone sucks when Rich Vos doesn't let them joke about him (looking at you Mercurio).

Well, I'm no defender of either, they're scumbags equally imo. But was that really a definitive olive branch extended? To me it sounds like a vague, dithering, handwave statement that promises no working improvement or change for the better. It's not saying, "hey let's link up, hash this out man to man in private, and/or get some mediation in to fix this and get back in business."

I download Anthony Cumia's show from a torrent site. A few weeks ago (clearly before the show above was recorded), he was trashing Opie pretty good. Anthony predicted that since Jim is no longer working with him, Opie will go back to being a terrestrial radio DJ. Anthony chronicled what a nightmare Opie was to work with on a daily basis. He was always pissed off about something. Anthony's theory was that Opie was angry that the listeners would goof on him for not being funny, so he took his anger out on the people he worked with. I agree with Anthony. It had to suck watching Jim and Anthony be hilarious each day and knowing that his only talent was saying "Cleveland, you're on the air"

@@amuroray88 buddy, you don't have all the info. Listen to the wnew shoes from 98-2002. You can see the growth of these two and let me tell you, it was all about Opie and Anthony. There was a former PD who wrote a critique of the XM O and A show and the talking points were Opie and Anthony need to be the focal point of the show, less input from Jim, his role of chiming in with the occasional hilarious line was perfect, and Anthony needed to do more impressions. The critique ended up being completely bang on. Opies vision and their chemistry got them to the top, the addition of the comics was the fine tuning that made the show brilliant. Around 2008 is when Opie started resenting his role on the show, that's 10 years of doing the radio show. Trust me, just listen to the old shows. It's really good radio

Seriously though, this is the most relaxed Ive seen Opie in MANY years. I disliked him alot of times, perhaps I dont like him much at all, but I dont hate people too easily either. And it was pretty obvious hes been having some really bad depression problems which I dont wish on anyone. I hope he is humbled, and finds somewhere to do what he likes. When he is relaxed like this he actually aint bad on the radio (even if you can argue he cant be all that great either, whatever). This feels more like when he was on JRE, I actually liked him more for that.

I hope he is humbled like u said but he doesn’t seem to have learned anything & he doesn’t seem like he has changed at all ... just the same asshole crybaby he has always been who 99 out of 100 times can’t take a joke
