Thanks a lot for the video! I just started working at Marx Optical in Decatur Alabama. I’m 21 years old and a month ago I didn’t know a thing about eyeballs but I have learned so much in the month that I have worked this job and I have really enjoyed this line of work so far. You explained some things really well in this video so I’ll be turning on those post notifications so I can stay updated!

Couldn’t agree with you more regarding online sales. The patient has to come in to a practice to get an eye exam. If you make the experience so good, they will want to buy from you. Too many people think they don’t have to try. They assume people will but from them because they did the exam.

I'm in law enforcement and recently went in for an eye exam to find out that I needed glasses for distance and reading. They pushed for progressive lenses and I was unlearned on the differences of single vision, bi-focal or tri-focal, and progressives. After some research and purchasing progressive lenses, I found that they are perfect for me in patrol work. I have three distances I'm constantly working with in patrol, especially in my vehicle. Near for reading papers and phone emails, intermediate for in-car computer terminal, and distance for driving. I don't have to take them off when I get out either because they work well for work outside the vehicle as well. My optician tried to get me an "office" (narrow) corridor and had the option to get a very wide corridor for more "outdoors" use. I didn't buy my glasses from them, but the wider corridor in progressive would have been a better option, IMO, for my line of work. I ordered a pair of Ray-Bans online with a 55mm lens which seems to have a wide corridor and works great for me. Just wanted to put my personal occupational opinion in there so maybe that will help an optician have some insight on this particular line of work for helping others select a lens.

An "office" lens would have a wider corridor not a more narrow corridor and you would have lost all distance focus. Glad you didn't buy them there! Yep - a good progressive should be just about perfect for your line of work. Of course if you ever get on desk duty or have 8 hours of report writing to do you will quickly find they aren't so great at that! John

@@LaramyKOptical the pamphlet they had actually shown three options. I believe the "office" option had the narrowest or medium corridor and the "outdoors" option with the widest corridor. You are right though, I have found that around the house they don't work quite as well, but I manage with them.

This is the what I was looking for. I went to LC(name left out but initials is a dead giveaway), expressed my problems, Clearly expressed my needs. They said they would handle it. Got my frames and glasses about an hour later from the mall. Spent $1200 on 2 pair of glasses, went to the track to test them out, and threw 1 set out halfway thru my first lap. Worst experience of my life at 181mph on a sportbike, i had toe get them off asap or I could have been seriously, if not fatally injured. I was so mad I gave up on having clear vision while on track. Racing Superbikes is dangerous enough but I wanted to be able to see my turn in markers and pavement marks, scratches, cracks, patches as we riders use those with critical decisions made on those markers, not seeing them properly could mean overshooting a corner by a 100ft, when there is a wall 50ft beyond the track edge, which means, hello wall. Since that day, I have studied vision a lot and realized how bad the optometry practice can be with over hugely profited monopoly Lluxxer**y company and its insane how bad it is. Today, my son went and got glasses....again. I am happy he is happy and can see for now, but after reviewing your informative information and clearly explaining everything, i went to check for fitment on my son. temples are too short, frame rests on his checks, the temples bow outward by at least 1 CM on each side. COMPLETE DISASTER for fitment and $489 later, and they bragged what a good deal since it would have been $900+ without their discounts. I know your frustrated and good consumer like myself got totally taken advantage of and didnt provide any value to the product or services. Well, i can tell you I am informed of basic fitment because of your video. So i then went around and checked my wifes glasses, same awful fit on BOTH pair... As for mine, the worst. We have spent $4500 in 2 years for 3 people and zero quality of service and the products we chose, not knowing, they didnt advise us to consider other choices or anything, that none fit right. No suggestions to our prescription eyewear chosen and that is their job to do so. But if you dont know, your blind. Get it? LOL Since I saw and now prescribe to your channel i found this on Occupational Glasses, I dug in deep. Watched it 2x already and also watched how you made custom glasses from scratch. This was the ahah moment for me to inquire. My eyes are not that bad, but the information that I talked about racing superbikes is critical to get right. I have made do, but would consider making glasses just for use with the track and another pair of reader type that would be good for working on the bikes. So frustrating bending over looking into a dark area of a bike, being in a hurry and need a quick fix but I would have to brake my neck to get the lenses just to pointed at a subject area or a problem on the bike. I cant thank you enough for doing these videos. You talk well, teach well, and is clearly a cut above everyone else. What can I do with you to get this right, im in California....

Anyone can wear contact lenses if the need and motivation is there. I can't conceive of a pair of glasses that would work well under a full face motorcycle helmet. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZC9iGaGbq-Nmbs

Hi Sir, it's not related to the video. But Today I cut a single vision lenses but somehow the PD is off. (Power: +125 and +175). Will it affect customer? Thanks a lot.
@LaramyKOptical Жыл бұрын
A little but not a lot. (depends on just how "off" we are talking about) You can buy +2.00 readers off the rack at the store right? I'd be far more worried about why the PD was off!

@@LaramyKOptical I see. That's my first time cutting lens. So it was a clumsy job. I will take note on that. Thank you!
