Underhand serve is the easiest serve to learn if you're a beginner. But most of the time in casual or unofficial games where you use underhand serve, its trajectory doesn't go that high.
@crescentmoondriver43434 жыл бұрын
Ceiling serves on the other hand seems hard to learn. Pinpointing accuracy with that high a trajectory should be hard.
@mugi11974 жыл бұрын
@@crescentmoondriver4343 nope it's very easy I remember 1st time I faced that serve I can tell u for sure they are not easy to receive as u don't practice receiving that type of serves as not.many use them nowadays
@ericbrown65574 жыл бұрын
i think he is doing a sky ball so yeah its easier is learn but it going high
@sonixka2574 жыл бұрын
I mean u wont see that at the professional high level since it is slow and no power
@Charley-ju6yg4 жыл бұрын
The thing about it when it’s this high is that it takes a few tries for the receivers to get used to cause they never practiced it, but because it stays in the air for so long and it has a straight trajectory down, once the receivers does get used to it it isn’t gonna do anything. Basically, a player who uses this serve would only be worth during the first couple serves, and then they’ll basically be a freebie afterwards. If you’ve got a solid serve, learning this cause it’s easy to learn could be worth it as a way to throw them off their game, but it won’t work on really good receivers, at least not more than once or twice at most which is why you don’t see it on professional or national level, cause you’re mostly better off practicing the basics or more reliable plays

The underhand serve is usually the serve that volleyball beginners learn first lol. What makes the ceiling serve special, especially at events like nationals, is that it takes advantage of the super high ceiling (makes height/depth perception difficult) and the bright lights needed for tv crews (hard to see/pinpoint drop point for the ball)

Underhand serves are actually the most basic serve that beginners use. That's why if someone does something as basic as an underhand serve, usually you receive with an overhand pass because it is a chance ball for you (because underhand serves are usually very easy to receive) It's just that when playing in a huge stadium, the high ceiIlings plus blinding spotlights make a high serve hard to pass. The high ceilings mess up your depth perception and lights limit your ability to see. This isn't because of the serve itself, but rather the environment. If you've ever played badminton in the afternoon when the sun is bright, you've probably experienced this. A high scoop shot can be hard to hit back because the sun gets in your eyes.

The reason you don't often see the underhand serve is because it is usually a "beginner" serve. The serve isn't as intense as an overhand serve therefore usually easier to receive. Only official, big venues have a high enough ceiling for this to actually work.
@LoneCommentWanderer3 жыл бұрын
I love how they showed up in this match how the other teams are afraid of Karasuno. Like when everybody was thinking about Kageyama's powerful serve: "Damn it. He has to serve right now?" or "So this is nationals!"

To comment on how they would've made it to nationals, the underhand serve had no play in it. If I remember correctly they said that was Himekawas debut as the serve is most effective in big arenas. They made it purely on the fact that they are one of the best teams in Kanagawa, and like everyone there, they had a few good players, in their case Echigo and Teradomari. As some of us know, you don't have to be a known team in this series to do well

9:34 they didn't make it to nationals because he kept serving like that, I know this because... They said (and you repeated it yourself) that this is his first game. I would also like to say that an under-hand serve is usually used by beginers in volleyball, It is way easier to do than an upper-hand serve!... The way he does it, is actually most often used in beach volleyball since there is no celing (and even there, it's not that often)... The reason this serve is so OP in the anime is NOT because the ball is going really fast or the spin. It's because Karasuno are not used to the high celings and the bright lights, so they easily lose the ball among the lights and when they do see it, It's usually too late already... They of course got used to it like the absolute champs they are! ❤️

Underhand serves are probably the safest servesfor a beginner or someone who can't spike hard.
@saniharuo4 жыл бұрын
Actually, underhand serves are easier to do that over hand, because you need less coordination. It doesn't do as much as an overhand since an overhand is kind of like a spike in a sense, and you can't do a strong underhand without drifting too far off the court, but yeah. Underhand is a beginner volleyball serve, and that's normally taught in gym class more than an overhand.
