I can only imagine how hard those hotrods accelerate. I remember my first time ever making a pass in a door car. I was 14 and the fastest time my dad had ever ran in the car was a 9.53 in the 1/4. I sat in the car as he pushed it through the staging lanes, so no one would see me get in the drivers seat. Did a great burnout and staged. He forgot to turn down the trans brake rpm and didn’t pull any timing. When I let go of that trans brake at 4500rpm, I was instantly hooked. My first pass was a 9.42 @ 145mph. I’ve raced go carts and dirt bikes up to that point, so speed never scared me. Since I’ve been 6.0s in the quarter, and I hope one day I’ll have the opportunity to make a hit In a TF car.

I put a wrench in that kids hand for the first time many years ago at Jim's transmission in Manassas Virginia. His dad big bear was the service manager I let little bear take out a driveshaft he couldn't have been more than six or seven. Happy to see him have such a good time. Nice to here Carolyn bunny burkett name pop up from time to time. Knew her years ago when little bear was about six years old.I rember very well when bunny and the boy's would show up at Summer duck drag strip in Virginia to do a Little match racing. Even back then I could see the fire in little bear's eye's then .RIP BUNNY

I have yet to hear anyone give a good description of what it is like to drive one of these monsters. Maybe the closest was ...imagine you are sitting at a red light in your family car...the light goes green and at the same instant you get rear ended by an 18 wheel truck going 100 mph.

Clay I have two questions. 1) who was the guy that was missing his legs, another racer? 2) Watching your videos about your car, when did you guys go over to full EFI controls for the fuel instead of where back in the day you had the fuel pump control lever in the cockpit and adjusted it there?

At this point in my speed addiction I don't think I could do top fuel. Where do you go AFTER that? There is no where obtainable to normal humans for faster in such a short distance. BIG MONEY can but that number of people is so small. Guess Ill have to wait for the Aliens to assimilate us and check out their toys. For now Ill have to stick to 0 to 150 in 330ft with toy race drones. More affordable til the gubment regulates them out of existence in less then 2 years.
