They've got some of the craziest riffing in all of death metal history. Totally over the top. This show is such a treat.

Awesome. A hundred million thanks for posting the video. Really appreciated. One of death metal's most underrated bands. Too bad they didn't play Upon The Uncreation and Valley Of Thorns but any Oppressor show is a good show. Hail Oppressor.

The mentioning of bands such as Gorguts, Cryptopsy, Nile and tour buddies Deeds of Flesh sums up the best of the late 90's tech death period perfectly. The albums of that period (From Wisdom to Hate, Whisper Supremacy, Among the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka, Inbreeding The Anthropophagi and of couse Elements of Corrosion) from these aforementioned bands lifted and solidified the standard of the genre to a certain height that was never attained again, even by those bands themselves. Frankly, I think those albums cannot be topped. There is nowhere to go beyond that. That's why death metal fell into regression and degeneration in the 2000's. Those classics of the late 90's are way too perfect. Everything that can be done was already done on a much higher level 20 years ago.

We went on after them, before CC. I asked them a bunch of questions from lead singer "Dude I worked and still do in a record store" The dude on the right, I went to take a leak and had a conversation about his Ibanez guitar frets. How they were 'so smooth, the best dude'. I agree.

I don't know the guys name on the right, but met him in the bathroom of all places. I said love your guitar and I play it high up like that too. He said "Ya man that's great". That's it lol. I also met Tim (singer), he said he was working in a record store "Not much money in death metal man" is what he said to me.

There's more bass here in this live show than on Elements of Corrosion album, but yeah I get what you mean. They never had a very up-front, clear bass tone. The guitar player on the right has a very muffled tone as well, so that makes up for a lot of low end punch. Still, I don't miss an up-front bass all that much, craziness of the guitar more than compensates for it. What a band they were, one of my fave classic US death metal bands. They really should have been bigger.

Milo - its what makes "Death Metal", its indicative of the "subgenre" of Metal. If you want to hear Metal that is just as heavy (sort of), listen to "Nevermore", Warrel Dane is an amazing vocalist, though he died this year in 2018 to our collective sadness :(.
