Also according to Moon's dialogue when you give her an overseer eye, scavs attack them to show defiance so that might actually have some slight effect on how they value the eyes themselves. So that might be even more true for inspector eyes. It might just be a theory though.. A rain world theory!!

The only time I killed a miros vulture outside of challenges and the apex predator expedition was as arti getting a vulture stuck in one of those hanging balls, but using both my explosive spears and it was still alive, so I walked in there and mauled it to death and managed to survive

Those pink rots you've been seeing are called Hunter Long Legs. In The Hunter's campaign, they must complete their task and ascend before dying to their illness, the rot. If they do not ascend in time, the player will be greeted with permadeath when their cycles run out, and Hunter will become Hunter Long Legs. Hunter Long Legs is a special enemy that can only be found natively in The Gourmand's campaign- specifically in the room the player permadied in as Hunter. Hope this helped! :)

(some minor spoilers here; it's all either stuff that's on the steam store page, or is revealed to you very early in the game) essentially, you're a Normal Canadian Guy who went in for a brain scan, passed out(?), and woke up in a research facility a few hundred meters below the ocean's surface. you're trapped there, you're not sure how you even got there, there's no other people around, machines are acting like they're people, and some of them are taking the whole situation so badly that they've become violently homicidal. your main goal at that point is to figure out what's going on, and ideally get out of there ASAP. ...alright, maybe i'm not very good at describing things in a way that doesn't make them sound a bit goofy. but trust me, SOMA's atmosphere is superb, the scares are Scary, the twists make sense, and it raises some really interesting questions about humanity. it's Good Stuff!
