Optec's 4.0.6 Destruction Warlock Guide

I got a new microphone!
This guide covers:
Talents
Glyphs
Spell priorities
Damaging single targets
Damaging 2 targets
Damaging multiple targets
This guide should cover most of the specifics for the destruction spec.
In addition to the priorities mentioned in the guide you should use this macro with all of your main nuke spells or at the very least Incinerate:
#showtooltip SPELLNAME
/cast [@pettarget, exists] Firebolt
/cast SPELLNAME
This will ensure your imp will cast at a decent rate improving overall dps as well as giving more empowered imp procs.

Cheers Optec, i only used to cast soulfire on procs and never hard casted to keep it up. Im doing so now and its a straight up dps increase. Cheers

Great guide Optec, after watching this and your General Warlock Guide, my DPS went up to about 18k from ~16k. I apparently was misled by my guild's "main" warlock that mastery was the best stat for Destro. @Djevel After you run the numbers it was found that it refreshing immo using fel flame results in a dps loss; unless you have the 4set bonus procced. Without the proc, fel flame should only be used when u have to refresh immolate when movement is unavoidable ( atramedes air phase for example)

@HavikZeroX good for you :). Good locks do good dps. Great locks help other locks do better dps, you should never fear coming second when that happens you have to up your game to outdo them and so the cycle of friendly competition starts and makes two better locks :).

@Tozza89 I have keys 1-8 bound to the bar you can see in the video (all of these have macros associated with them too) and shift 1-5 for other lesser used casts e.g. 3 is my main nuke and shift-3 is soul fire. I have several moves bound to my mouse thumb buttons like fel flame, corruption, life tap and soul burn. Don't know if that answers your question but meh.

Hey man, a question; what addon are you using for the improved soulfire countdown timer + aura? Looks really great, whilst being nice and obvious for sometimes rather hectic raid situations! Great video guide btw. Did like how you gave specific examples of dealing damage in different situations (single target, aoe and bane of havoc utilisation, etc). Nice job.

@Optec hello mate, first of all, great guide only thing i really wonder is: how did u make the duration of your imp soul fire with numbers and that stuff? plus, another question, u using power auras for fel flame or u just check into your buffs?

@mmgironi Nope, recast immolate. Only use Fel Flame is the 4 piece set procs or you are forced to move and Conflag, Shadowflame are off cooldown and corruption doesn't need refreshing.

For those that keep asking my Imp Soul Fire tracking mod is Power Auras Classic. I have a UI guide on my channel that explains most of the other mods but the main reason you should watch it is it goes into detail on how to set-up power auras. All I have done is changed the shape so it fits the in game aura for the insta cast soul fire. No mod will do this 'out of the box' that I know of.

@woutken Currently 4.0.6 infernal is best for all specs for both single target and AoE. The 4.1 change means that doomguard will be better for single target and infernal will be fore AoE

hmmm Optec maybe question. Could you export your power auras and upload it? Can't seem to let mine working. When trying it out for the Improved Soul Fire, the animation dissapears after 6 seconds. I disabled the hidding of the animation duration thing and the don't show if is higher than a certain value

@bleachftw04 that would be Xperl raid frames. i love that mod. you can also move the frames any where on your screen and you can make the bars class colored as well as many other options for your raid frames. i highly recommend this addon. :)

@mazafen Crit has a chance to increase your dps, while haste is always increasing your dps.

@OctaveSinner Bane of Havoc has no effect on the target you are directly dpsing therefore you should always use Bane of Doom on your main target.

Why do you cast Immolate during the fight? Fel Flame resets the Dot + instant damage, isent this better?

Dear Optec,: since the new patch, I heard that mastery has become more important. I gave pretty good gear, am hit capped, and pull around 21K dps on the heroic dummies. So what is the priority for specing/gemming now? I know hit is important until capped, then intelect, then..... Im a bit fuzzy now because of the new Mastery change. is it better than haste now? my roation i start off with immolate adn as im moving closer to the boss to get in range with shadoeflame im instant casting my dots. COE. demonsoul then instant soulfire when the soulf fire hit all my dots are continously ticking increasing there damage and constantly casting my inciinerate with chaos bollts off cool down keeping all moy dots and soulfire up and incinerate filler and im pulling a average of 18K dps depending on the fight

i've seen you are destruction most of the time. do you think that destruction warlocks are capable of more dps or is it just easier? I am rolling my second warlock and i reckon i could do higher dps in afflic Because i have been lvling with it, gotten used to it and have pvp'd with it. my brother claims that since vanilla, the affliction and destruction warlocks are better @ survival (with life siphons and tanks) therefore the destro lock has to compromise with more dps. sincerely, thekeymaker

@kakiller3 doesn't matter on what target you put it :p, if he puts it on he's main target the damage will increase so the damage on the other one will increase as well :p. And if you listen you can hear/see he's first spell is CoE.

I have a tiny problem. i can't really do any good dps, despite i do have a decent total iLvl on 336, i'm still having trouble doung above 7 k dps in hc, when i see other destro locks in hc doing about 9k or more, with about the same gear :S i tested your technique. and i didn't get that much of a boost from it, while testing it. i've got the same spec and glyphs like you, and i'm following your rotation :S are you able to tell me, what i might be doing wrong, or what i'm missing to do.
