OPTIBOTIMUS Not sure if this was addressed BUT AT 16:20 You CAN move the necks by adjusting the head of the figure/s. I picked up the hasbro version on special in stores, and then bought the trailer on ebay seperately. I just couldn't help myself. It just looks so nice next to Optimus with both their trailers.

A few months ago, I finally found one at a TRU an hour from me. I got it home and spent 15 minutes carefully opening it, only to find that the arm was snapped off at the shoulder. I had to return it and haven't seen one since. I looked at the comments on the TRU site, and apparently, a lot of others had that problem too. Excellent review. I still find it amazing how much info you provide in your reviews. You cover a lot if details that others might miss.

the most informative and thorough reviewer on youtube. when do you ever make a dull video? man you are the best. i have the hasbro version and have transformed it several times. i am careful with the stress marks on the small plastic tabs so no problems here. now if only hasbro released the new masterpiece optimus prime and starscream here in North America i'd buy it in a heart beat. thanks for the video. highly appreciated.

the neck peice tilts on both versions, which is why it looks diffrent on the hasbro versions, its just tilted. you can use that tilt to give the rodimus form a little bit taller

I got one of the Hasbro versions as a Christmas gift and within ten minuets of opening him up his arm broke off. I watched your review of the Takara one and treated my figure with care, thinking it was just as fragile. I was able to get another one but right away I heard some rattling in the box. When I opened it his arm fell off and I found out that the rattling was a piece of his arm joint that had broken off in the packaging. Now he just sits in his box and I never get to display him proudly

This isn't Rodimus Prime, this is Hot Rod. He wasn't called Rodimus Prime until Optimus Prime died, and when he became the new Prime his vehicle mode changed from a sports car to a truck (it seems that if you're a 'Prime' then you are required to be a truck for some reason…)

I actually had the opposite problem in regards to the fix for the leg side panel attachment point. On one leg, one of the three small friction tabs on that circular pin was broken right out of the box, so while it still holds the panel on loosely, while transforming it tends to pop off VERY easily, to the point where I have to get the rotating arm in place first, and then plug the panel back in. Just something to look out for.

I finally opened my Rodimus Prime toys r us figure, I do have a few issues with him ( the chest clip doesn't clip and I have bought repair pieces (knees and shoulders) just in case he breaks. ) but I don't mind him at all, I think a major paint job would've helped this figure so much!!!

I really just want a movie accurate color of hot rod. The shape of him is the best it can be, but they always try to switch up the colors to make it look better. It really isn't to much to ask from them either. It would actually be easier

In the MP-09 Video for Vangelus, he did a montage of HotRod using MP-01's Matrix and 'transformed him' into Rodimus.

Since they were fixing stuff anyway why didn't they make the chest cavity bigger so that it could actually hold the original Matrix mold. The chest plate is big enough to cover a much bigger cavity that would actually accommodate the larger Matrix. There's no reason the cavity has to be that small and the tiny Matrix is one of my biggest issues with the figure.

You didn't mention the differences of the inside elbow on the Hasbro version. They changed the plastic piece with a more flimsy piece and if you straighten out the arms, it will just swing freely. I don't know why they did that.

My hasbro MP Hot Rod came broken out of the box...the foot ratchet was broken in 2 places, luckily i was able to take it back and exchange for a new one, however, i have never transformed him, and i dont plan on it, even with the improvements.

ive had my hasbro rodimus for about 4 years now maybe 3 and no stress on those back joints or anything breaking only problem in robot mode is the spoiler wing leans back

i think i would've preferred full orange legs on hot rod/ hot rodimus, what ever. And also those little bits of colour on his arms look better imo, i think if the TRU version had those 2 things plus the thicker plastic for those tabs, it would be perfect. Still im going to purchase hot rod and optimus once i have the money, they're both great figures.

Your videos are long but they are very informative, like showing the differences of Hasbro's Masterpiece Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime figure and the Takara version.. Hasbro made a G1 toy accurate figure while Takara's figure is accurate to the cartoon series. Showing what Hasbro did to correct the problems that Takara figure had.

because the leg plates come of are u able to put the black leg plates on the hasbro version with a little bit od tweeking becasue (and i know you've watched it) in the orginal film (1985 for those of who dont know) his legs were black/gun metal grey as both hot rod and rodimus prime

I've had the problem that the talaria version with my hasbro but my sister broke it in half so I'm now getting the takao and I will sell the takara guns because I have the much better hasbro still, the guns I will sell for offshoot

the engineering on this version is far superior, but ive found all of hasbro versions have a gap in his chest where the matrix holds. MP-09`s chest closes much closer.

I like the overall look of the Takara version better in both modes, but the Hasbro fixes are nice. I got the version 1 Takara, so I have to deal with the problems, but he's still a great looking toy. I love him in all his forms. I just wish the car rolled without scraping (every now and then I can just about get him rolling well, but it takes some magic to do so.) I'll be making a parody with him shortly, so I needed a full Rodimus Prime. Still glad I got him, problems and all. Great vid.

the little rectangle on his crotch is longer on hot rod so it seems the hasbros pelvic panel was completely redone which helped the vehicle mode to roll

When this thing came out, I had enough money to buy it :) So I went to my local TRU & asked an employee about it, he said they had gotten 5 the previous DAY & he sold out that same day! I was so sad. Anyway, I really like this Hasbro version & hope to get it someday :)

Just bought this guy, he arrives today I was excited to get him out the box and display him with my other MP figures, except, his arm was fricking broken off, inside the box with no visible damage to the box itself! Are any fixes known for this??

that sucks dude, when he first came out i got him at toys r us, and when i took him outta the box, and moved his foot joint it completely broke off. I returned it the next day though......as for fixes maybe do some searching around, ive never seen any personally.......i guess u got it from ebay or somewhere like that?

It's unusual that Takara made the MP Rodimus Prime loose. Although Hasbro's version is a little more tight, I like the Takara paint job better.

Takara version made Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime have a white face but in the the movie and tv series he had a grey face and the hasbro version has the grey face so takara and hasbro took something from both components of the g1 toy and the series

you wouldn't believe what I just saw on e-bay...somebody had a loose toys r us masterpiece grimlock for 1,199:99 and it was sold!.there was a boxed one on the same page for about 150!.people are stipud....great review dude,LOVE this figure,mainly coz hot rods been my favourite bot scince I was about 7.who doesn't love an awesomely skilled fighter with a cool personality who turns into a bad-ass car then becomes a prime!

There's 1 thing that Takara beats Hasbro on is that the Takara verison of both Masterpiece Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime is far more accurate to how they appear in "Transformers The Movie" and Season 3 Transformers, if you watch "Transformers The Movie" or a Season 3 episode both Hot Rod & Rodimus Prime have black legs, white face & hands, and the flames on the chest of Takara verison is more accurate to the cartoon than Hasbro's.
