I was exhausted when I did this and I think my hate for bad spawns came across in a negative connotation towards OpTic and that's not how I meant it to, I apologize for that, but I promise I call out bad spawns in every match on here, it just makes me angry 🤣 The OpTic team played incredible and I don't mean to take away from their performance.

I mean I understand some of the spawns in the hard points were bad, but they lost both maps by over 100. You can’t blame a handful of bad spawns to loose the grand finals 4-0.

That spawn on Sub Base for the two Ultra players (P4, when they spawned all the way back near P3) actually makes sense. Even if the last man standing was on the hill, I think there's a good chance they still spawn out. Why? 1 player for Ultra left alive, 3 OpTic players pushing the front of the hill and thus all looking at that back spawn of P4. I know spawns in recent years often don't seem to make sense, but the most basic spawn logic in CoD is if an enemy player is looking at a spawn point, you're not supposed to spawn there, because it's a "free" kill. And when it's 1v3 in that area, with 3 players basically looking at that spawn area, the spawn logic says "unless this 1 player makes a hero play, this is not a safe spawn for his teammates". The spawn logic is a weird mixture of squad spawns and a more traditional spawn system. So, I think it makes perfect sense, even though in the moment, it sucked for Ultra. I don't claim to understand spawns in more recent CoD games, but going through this particular situation bit by bit and looking at the overall position of everyone, that's just how I read it.

i think the rio spawn is gassing it, you don’t get a 6 streak from a spawn😂you still have to get a kill, they also broke that hill, and got rebroke, it’s an unlucky spawn, but it did not cause them to get absolutely slammed😭

Scrap is always talking shit, doesn't matter who they're playing, lol. I think Ultra lost in the finals because Scrap already got the win he really wanted, against Drazah and Faze. And Scrap is Ultra's best player, hands down. No disrespect to Insight, CleanX or Envoy, but without Scrap (or a player of similar talent) Ultra is not a top 4 team. They might not even be a top 8 team.

Ty for pointing out that Spawn Merc I noticed that maybe 2 weeks ago so what I started doing on rotation from P2-3 I’m usually bottom secret at about 15ish seconds I jump out of secret go top AC and get 4 because I know my teammates always spawn new and they start to spawn back P4 for some reason. Then both team somehow spawn mid cut.

the spawns on this game are terrible i agree, partially the reason i dont play the game anymore. but the spawns have been bad since day one and these are pro teams. the games been out for long enough that these teams should be able to adjust, read, and manipulate these spawns, and imo optic did that better than anyone else.

just a guess, but possible reason teams were playing A defense on invasion more towards mid and blue is how most teams would lose defense was letting somebody slip through gas, so they’re trying to keep blue control and not let anyone slip through possibly

Its like a weird fucked up mixture of traditional spawns + squad spawns. Like the first spawn MerK talked about in Sub Base. The first Optic guy spawning there makes sense, that's a traditional spawn cause Ultra wasn't blocking the back. The 2nd guy spawning next to him should never happen, that's one of those shitty squad spawns. CleanX backing up there should've 100% blocked that 2nd spawn.

I get that most teams would veto the Sub Base, but Toronto are also really good at Sub Base and were also undefeated on it until they played it twice against OpTic over the weekend, so I get the ego chall after watching OpTic take 6 Star against Faze the series prior. The one thing I don’t agree with is blaming spawn cheese for Toronto getting out-slayed the entire series. Insight and Envoy were horrendous. CleanX was ineffective without Envoy producing much of anything and Scrap was trying to single-handedly keep these games close. If their guns were working, they would’ve been able to work out of bad spawns like OpTic and Faze both have had to do to clutch up maps and Toronto have done too, and it’s not like they didn’t get gifted spawns in Rio, but then they got smoked off of time. Blaming spawns for their poor performance is just cope that Ultra either win big or get absolutely rolled in their finals, I.e. Rokkr coming back down 0-4 to win 5-4. NY 5-0, OpTic 4-0. Once they get put down hard, it’s like Scrap is the only one with the mental fortitude to not let it check him out.

Toronto only lost once on Sub base and it was to OpTic. That loss was close enough to give Toronto confidence to play it again and possibly crush OpTic’s confidence. Torontos real issue was not ever playing High rise to level there map pool. Leaving Invasion when you see that OpTic had been Uber clutching that’s more criminal.

Dude I’ve been a fan of Merk for over a decade. But this video is just poor taste, while I agree Optic got some lucky spawns let’s not act like Ultra was winning gunnies at all. Shotzzy was basically unkillable for all the grand final map counts. Both Envoy and Insight dropped a stinker. Give optic their flowers.
