Great review. I have the GPO passion HD 8x42 model and everything you say about build quality is absolutely true. Definitely people should look at the GPO brand when considering a new set of binoculars.

The Spectra line is the lowest priced and their entry level bino. The ED sits between the high end HD and entry level Spectra line. It does use ED glass. The HD line is absolutely beautiful. Build quality is superior to anything in the $1000 price point. And possibly as good as almost anything on the market today. I compared the 10x42 to Zeiss conquest, Leica Trinovids and the Nikon HG’s. Leica returned and I’m selling the Zeiss. I wish they made a HD in 32’s.

We're glad you liked it! The manufacturer doesn't say, but we're speculating that they're made somewhere in Asia.

Hi, strange that the HD 8x42 has 125 meters wide field of view, while the ED 8x32 has 136 meters...thanks for the tip!

What is better HD or ED binoculars?

The manufacturers refer to the quality of glass in different ways. When it comes to GPO binoculars, HD models are superior to the ED ones.

ED is the more affordable option, I have a pair of 10x42 ED Passion these do for me. The quality is outstanding. HD are better but more than twice the price. If you want to buy the best and £1000 is Okay then go for HD.
