I'm surprised this video wasn't made a long time ago. It would have resolved a lot of issues and frustrations! Still, it's great that you have been kind enough to take time out to make it. It's very useful and I've picked up some great tips from it. I will apply them. I've like to see another video on MIDI track creations to produce a ballad song at say 90 BPM and using snares, claps, etc. It's a pity that the keyboard don't say what each key produces in the kit sections. Thank you.

@GearBoxTy No one wants latency. But depending on your computer, there is always a balance between latency and audio gapping. With a good audio interface, a fast hard drive, quick processor and a minimum of background apps, you should be able achieve near zero latency. 3 mils of latency is definitely achievable and usable.

@acoustica22213 жыл бұрын
@aangplus44 You don't need a stereo signal, you are supposed to record (in most cases) in mono. WavRT is only available in Windows Vista and 7, not XP. ASIO will only be available if you have hardware installed which came with an ASIO driver. Watch the video, it explains some of these things. As far as monitoring, you shouldn't need to if you are recording a guitar amp.

@MaestroDraven13 жыл бұрын
@DECIFERTHIS09 Quite right . Latency also affects the delay time in striking notes via MIDI controller, whether computer keyboard or MIDI device. I had to dial these down in the Preferences as well. Ironically, my laptop's Mixcraft install had a faster initial latency than my workstation did.
@sequica11 жыл бұрын
Try to adjust your latency by going to file; select preferences; then lower your buffer size. Let it go to 0-92 milliseconds. And see if that works. If not, then make sure your USB device is recognizable. Make sure that Mixcraft recognizes it. If that does not work, then try calling Mixcraft company. They will help you and guide you. I heard some people in India are teaching Mixcraft to students in the education field. But I don't have their number.

@aangplus44 Guitars are recorded mono, like everything else in a studio recording. You can pan one guitar right and one left, then your final wave/mp3 file is stereo. Guitars are also normally recorded by placing a microphone in front of your speaker cabinet, not a direct line. Do a search here and find our video on how to get a great guitar sound. It will help you a lot I am sure.
@Glennigus13 жыл бұрын
@aangplus44 It's mono because it's only one signal. Play two guitars at ocne if you want a stereo signal. Cya

@Mi-AudioLab9 жыл бұрын
Software engine? I think i get what you mean, and yes Mixcraft runs as quickly and efficiently as any daw.
@ynyslochtyn9 жыл бұрын
Eric VanLandingham Thanks. I find that the song project example 'It takes time' that Mixcraft 7 comes with, plays very poorly on my laptop, stuttering and stopping etc. My laptop isn't too bad, dual core intel 8 Gb ram. To get rid of most of the stuttering by adjusting the settings, as u mention, leaves the latency quite high 60 ms (waveRT) which when I attempt to record guitar in new project is quite noticeable . OK I can lower the latency settings in the new project, say, 30 ms and seem to be able to create a number of tracks without problem. May 'It takes time' would cause problems with other DAWs. So really there are two possibilities, the mixcraft 64 bit engine is not the fastest or 'It takes time' was and incredibly poor choice of sample song project to include with the project. I obviously have one of the early releases of mixcraft 7 so maybe improvements will be made.

Sometimes dual core works against you. Quad or higher is best. Try turning off multiple cpu from within mixcraft preferences

I (as a newbie) am still having trouble getting my voice to match the beat - listening to the backing tracks in my headphones and trying to sing in sync with the beat. I'm using WaveRT with Windows 7. Default Recording: Microphone (Soundmax Integrated Digital HD Audio) and Playback Device (SoundMax Integrated Digital HD Audio). Latency 20 ms. Exclusive is not checked. Is this just a matter of software latency settings or is it my simple hardware? Apologies if you've covered this elsewhere.

Here's my problem My system resource usage during playback is never steady, keeps wavering between 45% through to 100%... This happens even when I'm not recording, and I make sure no visible apps are running, I end processes of all apps closable in taskmanager, except for my McAfee AV wch (I think) doesn't use much cpu anyway And this happens, only and only when I use effects and when I use ozone 5.. My God, it's like I recorded the crackles and bleeps, no audible sign of actual vocals I use the Mixcraft 8 pro (32bit, recently reinstalled it in 64bit) In a Hp Pavillion touchscreen laptop (I can't remember the exact model, forgive me) 4gb ram, 500gb rom (running windows 8.1) PS - the external soundcard I use is not heavy, just a USB with a box body that I think is the soundcard Pleeeease, I need solutions, anything, anyone 😭😭😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I have Mixcraft 6 and have the playback glitching and stuttering issue. This happens with Wave and Wave RT, I cannot use ASIO. Changing the latency does nothing and both the CPU for Mixcraft and System stay under 10%, in the green. It happens even without any effect or plugins in use. What exactly, would be causing this problem? It happens on both of my computers with different specs and sound cards. The CPU is completely fine.
@acoustica2227 жыл бұрын
When you change the latency, are you increasing it? Lowering the latency setting would make this worse. Another thing to check is your Windows power settings. Check out this FAQ: acoustica.com/kb/windows-power-plans-and-cpu-throttling_1283.html

will asio driver give better latencey. i have mine down to 4 and still has some delay
@acoustica2228 жыл бұрын
+Brett Evan Latency is largely determined by your audio hardware. If you have a low-latency audio interface that provides its own ASIO drivers, that can give you extremely low latency. But let's back up here: when you say "latency," what do you mean? Latency generally refers to the delay between when the audio enters your computer and it when it comes out of your headphones. Are you experiencing audio skipping or some other playback problem instead? If that's the case, you'd want to increase the latency setting until the playback smooths out.

Um, false. While this may be true for sound quality, programs such as Ableton, Pro Tools, and Reason offer a much broader range of editing, mixing, and mastering. Trust me. While Mixcraft is an easy and cheap DAW, it wouldn't even be considered in a legitimate studio. I used it when I started out, and now that I have switched to Ableton, I am never turning back.
