I has a old Dell netbook running ubuntu and using for school notes and light outdoor usage

Back a few years ago, there also were sub-14" sub-1.6kg devices without a built in optical (or earlier: floppy) drive, and we called them subnotebooks. I even had a 9" 1kg one from 2002 on. The very first one i recall is Toshiba Libretto from mid 90ies. Netbook is perhaps just a new buzzword, but perhaps also a change in the status and pricing, since subnotebooks before EeePC have traditionally been more expensive than full-featured devices.

Cool tips, I am looking to invest in a netbook for when I go to conferences! These little portable laptops are brilliant. Amazing use of miniaturisation of technology! Is this video filmed in a infinity curve? Or have you added the white background in post production? Anyone who doesn't know the difference between a Netbook and a Notebook will be even more confused after watching this video. Words like OS, USB, Skype and downgrading are used with no explanation as to what they are or mean. Oh and Ellie's mysteriously great looking as always :P

Haha, it doesn't install any codecs, it just uses it's own ones and doesn't care about anything else. It's terrible. Better have some good codecs properly installed and configured so that your files will play back in anything.
