Hi James, re my new mini pc (Ryzen 9 Minisforum Elite UM 980 Pro) . So happy to report that after 5 days I have found no issues whatsoever with your Optimum Pro 23H2 v5, it's running smooth as a baby's bum. but no surprise there. I was however totally unprepared for it installing in just 3 mins flat though, at first i thought something had gone wrong. My old FX 8350 potato is now enjoying retirement, Again so many thanks for your work and dedication. BTW it did come with Win 11 preinstalled, that I wiped off without even using it at all because I was so confident with your X-Lite. For the doubters out there take notice.

Thank you for the Excellent 24h2 build. I tried to connect my 3.5 HDD with an external USB Adapter to my PC but it won't show up either in Windows Explorer or in the disk management. Tried with another 3.5 HDD same issue. I wondered the issue might be with HDD's, so connect them to another 23H2 windows pc and they work fine. Is it with the customized build or 24h2.1 or am i doing anything wrong? I will try to clean install 'Optimum 11 24H2' Pro v4.1 and see if they work on it.

24H2 requires a CPU that has SSE4.2 support. If your CPU doesn't you'll have to stick to 23H2 and older version of Windows.

I got this because Windows 11 loved to run high ram on idle and would make my fans keep running at full speed from a game made in 2009 (yeah my laptop is a little old). This is faster, cleaner, and I like that I don't have to see news feeds of Donald Trump when trying to search for a file in the start menu. I like that start menu a lot actually because it is just like the one I used in Windows 7. Thank you for ungarbaging this launch of Windows by removing the 3x varients of Media Player, software I never touch, and the George Orwell spyware co-pilot thing!

Anyone know how to get shared networking folders to work? Optimum 11 26100.2 The help page says to start workstation but that does nothing. SMB 1.0 is activated too. I have original Win10 on the same machine and it finds all networking drives and folders within 30 seconds of starting.

I'm interested too. Because I have a Zappiti One 4k HDR box on an original Windows I have no problem. I see it on the network by Enabling smb 1. It's only beneficial for HDD, for modern PCs, or anyone with an SSD, it gives no performance benefit, and it causes unnecessary wear, which is why it's disabled by default. However! brother, did you add the option to customize the taskbar? like moving the taskbar to the left instead of bottom and change the style to match windows 8? because I swear before installing the 26100.1301 update, i could access the customization option by right clicking the taskbar, now it's gone. Oh, I found it again after randomly right clicking the start menu. It's called StartAllBack. I used Linux before and I thought Microsoft were doing the right thing for once by introducing this app. Oh how naive I am.

After a fresh install how do you effectively install the correct drivers for your hardwares (ie monitor, amd, directx, dotnet, etc)? Installing them from windows update setting works but it will also double or triple the OS size. You know what, I don't even know what else to install after fresh update. Can someone give me a list to install after fresh OS install? I'm talking about graphic drivers, video codecs, hardware drivers, and those optimization updates (afaik) when updating from setting. If only windows gives us the option for selective updates. Oh, I just found out that you have a list of softwares like i mentioned above on your website. I can't give links since youtube will remove my comment. You only need to add "/software" after the base website url. Nvm you also have the video guide to manually update after fresh install. I commend you, good sire.

Typically, once you connect to the internet your drivers will automatically download, even with automatic updates paused. - This means you should be able to leave automatic updates paused, and your device drivers should still download. If they don't, you can run Windows Update MiniTool, or Driver Booster etc. - or download drivers directly from your PC mfg's website. - For most users, I recommend installing directx and visual c++ runtimes.

Update: I love it. Really fast, snapy, everything is easy to use. In terms of gaming it's not faster than atlas win i had but the diffence is really little. Tho my 1% lows were higher which basically matters the most. Overall better than atlas IMO.. Gonna use this in the future. Thank you

All releases require a clean install, and there is no set cadence for releases.

Certainly. Auto updates are fully supported, you just have to resume them if desired. - Auto updates will bring bloat and unnecessary background services though, which is why I recommend manual updates, and keeping auto updates paused.

The differences between Windows 10 and 11 lie mostly in GUI changes, and additional features. Performance between the two is fairly similar.

I had downloaded a previous update, and it worked flawlessly, but this one is just giving me this error. Windows Update Standalone Installer Installer encountered an error: 0x80070424 The specified service does not exist as an installed service.
