I was going to create a detailed video using my microscope camera for Optoma's benefit, but they showed zero interest in this issue which led to 2 out of 7 HD143x projectors in my project arriving DOA. I decided to look into one unit for my own learning, and immediately found some production defects and a design/manufacturing issue leading to the bulb cooling blower failing. The subject projector has had the fan connector reworked and functions fine now. The bulb looks like the reflector cracked while the blower was inop, likely from heat stress. Due to my digging into the unit, I voided the warranty so the bulb damage is on me... Consider if you have an Optoma projector, especially this model, that your unit may have this latent defect too. It can be fixed by a competent tech familiar with surface mount rework.
Yes, the camera I used was not up to the job, but I don't have the time to put into better production at the moment.
*****UPDATE 9/30/2019. Optoma DID show interest in this issue and I'm collaborating with them on it to make sure it is not overlooked in the manufacturing or repair processes. Optoma says this issue was one that was corrected during the manufacturing run, however they are double checking and bringing in this projector to look at.
