Hey, thanks for taking the time to make this. One more data point: I own a HD143X and had an intermittent fan error (rare) after about 1 year of use. After about 2 years of use, it became very frequent so I found your video. I opened it up and it looks like Optoma solved the wire gauge problem by the time I bought it in March 2018. My basic calipers showed the wires for both fans were 0.98mm. I cleaned out the substantial amount of dust, checked the crimp on the 3 conductors, and it seems to be working so far.

Sometimes after replacing the lamp one might get a fan locked error message in which case the blower fan needs cleaning. Often times from the explosion of an old lamp shards of glass plunge into the blower fan and stick in the blades. 7:10 I guess you can just file either side of the plug and then push it in.

I have an HD 142x -- "2" not "3" -- and I've enjoyed it for several years, but I just recently bought three replacement projector bulbs and none of them "worked". They would get too bright, then flicker, then the bulb-protection light would come on. The theory that seems to be emerging as a result of watching your video is that I inadvertently jiggled the contact on the blower lead, while swapping the bulb. Two things, though: First, it's not the same model, so I'm wondering if you have an opinion about the likelihood of the same problem and, second, what do I do about it in the absence of an available technical repair? (I live in Cambodia.) Thanks for your video!
@davemedin11133 жыл бұрын
I can't answer for the lack of an Optoma repair facility in your area. Are you using genuine bulbs? I've found in general that the Chinese aftermarket bulbs are complete garbage and not worth using as they do exactly what you are seeing. It is likely that if you aren't getting a lamp error while the bulbs are still working, that the blower fan is working, as it has a tachometer in it that shuts off the bulb if it is not turning at the right speed.

How do I remove the rest of projector casing to expose all that, i can only get as far as taking the lamp out?
@swoelPenn304 жыл бұрын
I found there are about 5 little screws on the underside, think 1in each corner of the projector, one is under the parts where you can mount to a ceiling, then pull the plastic peice off that you use to focus the lense, then you can pull the casing apart

Hello, thanks for the video, I have a question about this, on the blower fan I connected V+ and PWM Signal, after a few seconds it smelled like I did something very wrong. Now the board is still intact, but PWM and GND on the blower adapter are now connected. At the end of the video you are saying that the board is measuring the speed of the blower fan, do you have any idea how to stop the board from doing this. Or where I could get a new board. Right now, I ran into the error message: "Fan closed" if I try to start the projector, but I have fans attached on the system side, so heat is not a problem. If you have any idea, I would really appreciate it :)
@davemedin11133 жыл бұрын
The fan has three leads--V+, tachometer, and ground. All 3 need to be connected for this to work properly. No, there isn't a way to defeat the tach--you need to provide a signal at this pin that is the same as the fan would at its nominal RPM, if you wanted to fake the projector as having a working fan, but why would you do that? The tach is there for the projector's protection. I can't comment on the mis-wiring of the fan, and the potential damage it can cause.

not sure if youll see this but i have an optoma hd143x that has a power issue after barely two minutes it powers down and the power light blinks 3 times. the only way around for me to use it is to 1 .plug the ac power cable while holding down the power button 2 .the three indicator lights all flash 3. hit power again then it starts up no problem but to turn it off it will keep cycling so i have to unplug the power cable no other issues for it at all but i have no idea where to take it for repair do you have any thoughts on how i can repair this myself? thank you and i appreciate your videos!
@davemedin11134 жыл бұрын
Having the power indicator flash can, according to the manual, reflect a fan failure (not making RPMs) or overheat. If you overrride, what you will earn for the effort is an extremely short bulb life. Every cubic foot of air movement designed for is required to keep the bulb within limits.
