Heute Nacht oder nie! the music IS timeless and is so refreshing in a time of turmoil. A bit of light in a world of gloom. Max performs all of these songs with elan and marvelous interpretations. Wish I could have seen him at Carnegie but I was no longer in NYC. I used to work on W 54th Street and saw many performances at Carnegie. I miss it.

It was this performance that first endeared me to them, and now I am proud to be among those addicted to their performances. I own many of their CDs, all of their DVDs and get myself to any appearance here in the states that I can get to. They are talented musicians and delightfully nice people in addition. I quite love them.

My favorite Era of German History...the Weimar Period...such an explosion of arts and creativity...painfully brief flowering of democracy and freedom between the wars. We're off to see Max on Friday 24th May at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire. The man is a true star and oe day his time will come in the English speaking world. I understand all the resonances of German culture of the early 20th century. But he is in the tradition of the greats such as The Comedian Harmonists. For sure the Nazis would not have been fans - far too insouciant and irreverent but he and his band play the music they love.
