That so cool. Using a watercolor technique but with different acrylic mediums. Creative. I wouldn't have thought of this. Light to dark. Laying down soft color loosely with acrylic spray paint ,then slowly defining or mapping your area with inks and using them as a wash is so neat. Last you get the thick opaque layers in and define even more. I love it. It seriously reminds me of the way watercolors look. I guess you could work any way you wanted using different kinds of acrylics.

Love your painting! But now i'm confused..... I've always heard to work dark to light with acrylic and now your telling me to work light to dark ???? I'm a beginner painter so i'm just trying to figure this out.........Hugs! deb

I think she just means because it's a wash you want to work with a lighter hand on the base washes so you can darker with more layers if need be. You can add more paint but you can't take away! But you are right with any other kind of paint (heavy body acrylics or oil paints etc) you will want to work dark to light. Inks/Watercolours you'll want to work light to dark washes (not colours). I hope that makes sense! :)

Acrylics are the most versatile of all the physical media. You can glaze.. you can do wet in wet.. you can always cover things.. the order of the colors have nil effects on the drying.. Just try things.. it is never absolutely wrong with acrylics
