You explained it very nicely. I have a doubt regarding automatically reinstating Is it necessary to manually mount the old primary database after a failover? The old primary database is automatically reinstated as a standby database by observer.

In most cases observer will try to reinstate old primary. However there are scenarios where it will not be possible. Which is rare but possible. In which case you will have to manually perform these actions.

If we switchover or fast start failover, it means our application connect to IP or hostname of server standby? we have to change MANUALLY our application setting to IP or hostname of server standby?
@DB2_Oracle Жыл бұрын
Yes. However there is a concept of Services in Oracle and you can configure the services in such a way that that incase of failover, you do not have to change anything in the client.

what it will do if stand by is went down, Will it reinitiate and start stand by?
@DB2_Oracle Жыл бұрын
Nothing. Fast start failover is meant to initiate the Failover. If Observer cannot connect to Standby, it does not do anything. You need to start the Standby manually.
