Oracle APEX: How to enable Full Text Search on PDF/DOC BLOBs

In this video we will showcase how to leverage Oracle Text with Oracle APEX to enable search capabilities inside a .docx & .pdf stored in a BLOB column inside Oracle ATP on a free tier Cloud Account.
Our video begins by illustrating the priviledge ctxapp required to create the advanced searches. Next we will look at our code table with the BLOB column to store the documents. We will create a new index of type CTXSYS.AUTO_FILTER to enable full text searching. With our index created we will demonstrate the SQL syntax how to perform full text, proximity, fuzzy, soundex and stem searches from SQL Workshop. Then briefly show the same functionality inside a simple APEX app. Last but not least we will upload a new document and demonstrate how to rebuild a index so the document is searchable.
This video assumes some APEX application knowledge developed inside this video.

Hey Chip - Trying to understand when use theme, Glist or Full_Themes Can explain a bit more. Do you mind posted the same app you have shown in the demo on Github.

A gist is a summary of a document typically a few sentences. A theme is a single word, a single phrase, or a hierarchical list of parent themes about the document. Yes, there is component of APEX called Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS). It is used to create REST endpoints. Specifically you could create a endpoint that uploads a BLOB via a put or post command then programmatically call that as needed. This would be the first step to automation.
