The below general principles apply to most industrial tools, as well as electric toothbrushes. 1) TOTAL COST of OWNERSHIP (TCO) must include cost of replacements: BRUSHES. 2) Sonicare brushes are much more expensive; inbuilt microchip; no third party (cheaper) brushes. 3) If brushing a few times daily, we can't always be so attentive to careful brushing. So careless brushing might be done more for some people. 4) Before brushing, and after, I tend to rinse the brush, to remove accumulated rubbish, etc. 5) When first brushing, I put an overall layer of toothpaste on all four surfaces of the teeth: top & bottom, inside & outside. This allows maximum fluoridation, surfactant action, antiseptics, etc to work longer & better. 6) Do not brush immediately after a meal; the teeth may be weakened by food acids, et. 7) Rinse the mouth before brushing. Large particles, acids, etc can be removed easily & quickly. 8) If you have smaller teeth, missing teeth or unusual angled teeth, the timing length of the brush cycles might different from the recommendations. 9) Over-brushing is THE major danger: too long, too much pressure and wrong angles. Electric brushing is much better & safer than others. 10) Batteries which are underpowered will not work as well as fully charged batteries. 11) Recharged batteries have their own inbuilt computer protections; over-charging etc is not possible. 12) Electric brushes have major technology advances every several years. It is worth regular upgrading to later technologies. 13) Top line models have the latest expensive experimental technologies. 14) Advanced technologies move into lower priced models, after first trialled in the top line models. 15) Brand names deliberately confuse buyers; fashionistas will want the status of he higher priced models. 16) Pragmatic (sensible) users should choose medium priced models.

The Oral B Bluetooth toothbrush allows you to rearrange you brushing modes. So when someones wants to brush their teeth with it, maybe their can continue to change the brush modes. For example: Brush Gum Surface with Gum Care(to Massage/Clean the Gums) Brush Teeth With Daily Clean mode(to Brush the teeth) Brush Teeth With Whitening mode(to remove surface stains/whitening teeth)

DiamonClean is what i was looking for a real premium smart handle with the brushes, it's feels premium in the hands, oral b is a very good brush however for my teeth are not very small and they are taller so the brush heads are important the sonic vibration i prefer also the diamond clean is a much more powerful with its 3 modes, you have to be very careful when choose these packages, diamonclean is a better system for me much more powerful. I sized up previous brushes from oral b and guess what they are the same as the sonicare so if people complaining about one better than the other its all comes down to the technique used when brushing with this technology so its not just about the toothbrush used, if used correctly both will clean the same but all toothbrushes clean very good if your brushing the way you should so this is all about quality thanks for the information,. i did allot or research before buying and i use to use a oral b but not anymore.

If Someones done with brushing their teeth once for 2 minutes, they could brush their teeth more than once. Like 2 to 3 times. Which can make their teeth feel clean longer. Thats what I do when I use my 3000 Oral B 15:30 Diamond Clean Brush Automatic turn off 15:37 Genius X Doesn't Do that

After use Sonicare for over 10 years, this time when I need to renew of my tooth brush I've found lots of reviews to compare between Sonicare and Oral B. Thanks for your review I've bought a new Genius X to try if I can used to it since I'm a vary long time Sonicare user. In Taiwan(yes I'm a far away viewer) I bought an Asia model of white/pink version. It looks great and I love the surface of the handle when I use it. But the APP is confusing to use it. Since it's a built in sensor but it never record correct of my brushing direction and area. Overall it's a nice model and thanks again for your video.

Hi Jonelle. Thanks for the comment and the praise. 😍 You don't need to spend much to take care of the teeth. Less than $10 a month for a manual toothbrush, tube of toothpaste and some dental floss are the essentials you need. Brush twice a day for 2 minutes, with the correct technique and floss at least once a day and you you are doing a lot to help yourself and your teeth. An electric toothbrush can bring benefits, but they are not essential. You might find some of the videos in the following playlist helpful too: kzbin.info/aero/PLAeTjwo5Ms7ZUphUWXKzZVzkLzLxw7IML

Had a Diamondclean but could not use it, because of the vibrations the backside of the brushhead vibrates like crazy, so when I hit the teeth with the backside it hurts like holy hell. Never had an issue with oral-b with this. Also the toothbrush and saliva foam and run down the edge of the brushhead on diamondclean, also because of the insane vibrations. So, its only for travel now and bought a Genius X as home toothbrush, 100 times better imo :D

Electric Teeth I replaced it with the Oral B Pro 6000, and I just upgraded my Waterpik to the Waterpik Whitening Oral Irrigator Flosser Whitens Teeth while it cleans below gum line, and massages the gums. Several years ago I had a “military” dentist do a root canal on number 26, bottom right, but he did NOT get the entire root. For about 15 years a spot on the right side of my chin that would get sore, and swell a little. I had had a Hx of cystitis acne, in my late 20’s, so that is what I though was happening. I would apply topical cream, but also start taking a round of tetracycline. This was what they used to clear up the cystic acne, so that’s what I did, and it would go away. After moving, and changing dentists, I found out that the swelling was not acne, but an abscess pocket that the initial dentist did not get! My new dentist referred me to an Oral Surgeon and he informed me that most of the jaw bone, under that tooth & adjoining tooth, had been eaten away from repeated infection. I had to have 4 bone graft surgeries BEFORE he could do the two implants. The Oral Surgeon recommenced the Waterpik instead of flossing. He said that it was a great idea for the ADA to promote daily flossing, but that 99.9 % of people do not do it correctly. I rave to everyone about the Oral B electric toothbrushes with the floss head, and encouraged everyone in my family to get a Waterpik! Sorry for such a long answer to your short question. 😁

Just bought the 9400 (only available from dentists), and while I like it, you offered some tips that I was not aware of (e.g. 20 sec between beeps, the way to up the intensity). I previously used an Oral-B with a brush head (similar looking to the Sonicare) vs. the round brush, and it beeped every 30 seconds, so I could brush in 2 minutes reminding me when to move from the outside to the inside of my upper or lower set of teeth. This one beeps in those 20 second intervals, and seems to turn off before I'm able to cover both top and bottom teeth. Wish it had a way to just run for two minutes with 30 second beeps to move from inside to outside of both the upper and lower teeth. I also discovered that the 9400 does not come with a charging case. Do you know where I can purchase the plastic brush holder. When I took it out of the box, my first thought was "oh they've provide a glass for me", only to discover after reading the instruction (who reads them!), that you have to place the glass over the induction base. Thanks for a nice video, I actually learned something about this new and sometimes challenging brush! :)

I still have doubts about the power toothbrush to buy. I'm sorry for my third degree interrogation and my engligh, but i really really need this information. I wish you could help me: 1) Which technology could promote whiter teeth? 2) Which is the best for cleaning the gum line? 3) Which is the most indicated for healing and preventing receding gums? 4) Sonicare's motions are much shorter and more numerous; oral b's motions are wider and less numerous. According to this, can we detect a gentler toothbrush? 5) Which technology has the higher physical/mechanical action on teeth and gums? Is it possibile to identify it? 6) In some comments below you wrote: "sonicare brush feels better". What did you mean? 7) Both brands offer several head brush: with different kind of bristel: different shape, ergonomics, features (for example 3d white, crossaction, sensiultrathin, orthodontic care for oral b; premium white, diamond clean, plaque defense for sonicare). I don't mean the head brush shapes (round vs regular), but the bristel shapes. In general who gives the best offer and technology of bristels?
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Lucia. Thanks for the questions. I have included answers below. Some of your questions are quite specific and there are arguments for and against some of the key points. I feel the main thing to take away from this is that as a general rule both are brands/models are equivalent from a cleaning perspective and will serve you very well. Focusing on brushing twice a day for 2 minutes with the correct technique is more important than a specific brand or model of toothbrush. 1) Which technology could promote whiter teeth? Neither is really better than another. This video provides some extra insight: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKHOaYlqi6aLoZo Although this is designed primarily for a UK audience, we have a complete tooth whitening guide on our website which you may find useful. www.electricteeth.co.uk/whitening/ 2) Which is the best for cleaning the gum line? Both are very good. If you based it on clinical evidence, there are studies that side with 1 brand over the other, meaning both have come out on top, but quite often Sonicare takes the edge. The clinical differences can be quite small. 3) Which is the most indicated for healing and preventing receding gums? I can't say either is better than the other. Receding gums can be caused by a number of different issues and it is not always possible to heal the gums. Overbrushing or brushing too hard is a common cause and both these brushes have sensors to alert you when you are brushing with too much force. Whilst these can potentially slow or stop gum recession caused by incorrect brushing technique they can't help if the cause if clenching, grinding, aging or another condition. 4) Sonicare's motions are much shorter and more numerous; oral b's motions are wider and less numerous. According to this, can we detect a gentler toothbrush? I am not sure this is really possible as there are variables, such as what cleaning mode and brush head. If you use either brush on a gum care/sensitive mode with a soft/sensitive brush head the experience will be similar. Some users may have a preference and may be more sensitive or have a preference, but this is ultimately personal. 5) Which technology has the higher physical/mechanical action on teeth and gums? Is it possibile to identify it? I am not entirely sure how to answer this question. The cleaning methods are slightly different and it depends on how you compare these and really rate the approaches. The 62,000 movements appear more than Oral-B, but Oral-B have pulsations in addition to the oscillating and rotating motion. Much will depend on how you position the toothbrush etc 6) In some comments below you wrote: "sonicare brush feels better". What did you mean? For me, personally, the brushing experience with a Sonicare toothbrush feels a little more gentle on the teeth and gums. The Oral-B cleaning action feels a little harsher. Both are comfortable to use and leave my mouth feeling nice and clean. I personally prefer the Oral-B as psychologically at least I feel my mouth is slightly cleaner. The quality of the brush handle materials and build quality does too feel more premium to me at least on Sonicare handles. I am not sure that I can answer this comprehensively enough for you and I am not aware of any clinical/scientific studies that really explore this.

@@ElectricTeeth YOU-HAVE-BEEN-AMAZING! Thanks a lot! I still have these last doubts: 1) I have orthodontic braces and i supposed that they both would be great anyway, right? 2) I have some dentin exposed in some points. I read this publication: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28222156 Is it something to worry about, even if the power toothbrush is used very genlty and properly? Are they both safe on dentin and restorative materials? 3) Philips says that ultrasonic motions create dynamic fluid action with which microbubbles clean between teeth. Does dfa really works or is it just marketing? 4) Philips recommend to place the bristles at a 45° angle. Is it the same with oral b's head brush too? PS. Sorry, i'm not an engligh native speaking, I don't perfectly catch when you say: "Sonican often takes the edge". Did you mean that Sonicare often overcomes oral b or is sonicare considered an equal competitor of oral b?
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 5 жыл бұрын
Lucia, I am glad my answers have been helpful. 1) Yes, both brushes can be used with braces and will clean well. Oral-B do offer a specific 'ortho' brush head that is designed to work with fixed braces, but you can use any of the brush heads in theory. Sonicare do not make a specific brush head. More important is regular, thorough brushing than the head itself. 2) That study used a particularly abrasive toothpaste. These abrasive toothpastes are designed to help remove surface stains on the teeth and whiten them. What this means is that the paste was harsher on the tooth structure and particularly the dentin. Many 'normal' toothpastes are less abrasive and would do less damage. You don't want to use harsh/abrasive toothpastes when wearning braces. I, therefore, think you have very little risk and an electric toothbrush is fine on dentin and restorative materials. For peace of mind on this topic, it might be worth speaking to your dentist/orthodontist as they have your records and know your teeth and can give personalized recommendations. 3) Sonicare is not an ultrasonic toothbrush. Sonicare uses sonic cleaning action, but ultrasonic is something different still. As far as I am aware, their microbubble work, but it is a very difficult thing to measure. Everyone is different as is their toothbrushing technique. In the scheme of things for the average user it is very difficult to say 1 brand of toothbrush is better for one person or another, both are for the most part equivalent. The best way to clean between teeth is with interdental brushes or floss. They will be far more effective than microbubbles! 4) With all toothbrushes, manual or electric, the bristles should be aligned at a 45 degree angle to the gums. What I meant by '"Sonicane often takes the edge", is that it often beats Oral-B. However, the differences are not always that big, so there is not a lot between them really.

I have a Sonic Care Diamond Clean toothbrush and it is unfortunately garbage. I've been using an Oeal-B off the shelf battery operated rotating brush and it beats my Diamond clean. The money I could have saved... I'm switching to Oral-B. I've read so many research studies but felt that if you spend more you get more but it just isn't the case. @@ElectricTeeth I tried an experiment with only using electric brushing and flossing once a day, once because of the boast of how it cleans between the teeth. The DiamondClean toothbrush wasn't cleaning the surface of my teeth or in-between my teeth nearly as well as it should. I would find myself needing to floss more and manually brush afterwards to remove deposits I could feel with my tongue. I'm a bit picky with having the post-dentist clean feeling after brushing. I felt that post+dentist clean feeling after the first time brushing with the cheap battery operated Oral-B spin brush which is leaving me to believe that the Genius X will be even more superior; receiving it tomorrow. The $15 battery spin brush has the whitening head on it and have seen unremarkable change so far. I don't know if I got a faulty product but it seemed to operate like my previous Sonic Care brush, just much nicer. The previous Sonic Care had the larger head and I thought was doing a decent job. I'm just blow away by trying a $15 spin brush and the remarkably cleaner feeling. I can feel more detail in the ridges between my teeth. I hope I didn't drag on too long. Thanks for your review because I wanted to learn more about the Genius X, it was helpful.

Hi Doctor, I have a question about the toothbrush appearing in the background at minute 15:54 with the mouthpiece in the actual mouth shape. It is white with light green buttons. Is this from the brand Amabrush ? I funded their project on kickstarter but then they sent only the first delivery with included the brush but not all the funded accessories then sent later a bankruptcy notice. Are they still operational ? Actually I started watching your channel because I wanted a new toothbrush instead of this Amabrush, but went for the regular Diamondclean not the smart version, and it's being delivered at the moment.

🌟✨🌟 So greatly appreciate all of the time you took here to share this. I just came from a deep root cleaning so deep that it required that I get local anesthesia. The periodondics office said that the sonic action of Sonicare and it’s larger standard sized brush was more effective that the round head and action of the Oral B. I respect your opinion but that’s a huge conflict of information and opinion. 🤟🏼
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 5 жыл бұрын
Hi James. Sorry to hear the cleaning was that deep, but hopefully you will feel the benefit. There is a lot of debate about which is best and each dentist will have their own opinion. Like many things in life rarely is there 1 perfect choice. There are clinical studies that suggest Sonicare is better and others that suggest Oral-B is best. As a general rule Oral-B comes out top when evaluating most studies. However, the key point is really, either are great if used correctly. Chose the brand/brush that you feel is best for you.

Electric Teeth Thank you. If someone asks if Nikon is better than Canon the question better at what would have to be asked to properly answer that. In my case here I’m not referring to any outstanding features or hand feel but simply on the effectiveness of removing plaque. They use two entirely different actions and brush size too so one must be more effective in that direct regard. Thanks again for putting this video together.
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 5 жыл бұрын
James. I totally understand what you are saying and if it was as black and white as one being better I would definitely say so. As I intimated, more often than not Oral-B comes out on top. But, the reality is that there is very little difference between the 2 cleaning actions. An independent study completed by Cochrane (www.cochrane.org/CD004971/ORAL_different-types-of-powered-toothbrushes-for-plaque-control-and-healthy-gums), looked at data from 17 different trials. Their interrogation of this data suggests that there is some evidence oscillating technology used by Oral-B is more effective. However, the admission here is that the differences are small and clinically unclear with further studies required. There are quite a few different studies, that do side with one approach over the other, but as the data from the Cochrane review highlights the difference is minimal. What can have a massive impact is how a user actually uses the toothbrush. You can have technically/clinically the best, but if not used correctly, for the right amount of time by the user, the potential benefits are lost. There is a more significant difference when looking at the difference between manual toothbrushes and powered. A 2010 study, by the Cochran Oral Health Group (www.cochrane.org/CD002281/ORAL_poweredelectric-toothbrushes-compared-to-manual-toothbrushes-for-maintaining-oral-health) discovered that there was an 11% reduction in plaque at one to three months of use, and a 21% reduction in plaque when assessed after three months of use. By all means, do your own research and look at some of the data. Given your dentist has recommended Sonicare, perhaps the best option is to go with a brush from them, that way you know it's going to get the approval of the dental health professionals you interact with. Happy to answer any more questions you may have.

@@ElectricTeeth So if I understand well, the Genius X would be more effective in all of the modes, right? Also, would the Genius X be therefore the best smart toothbrush on the market today? Is there a better toothbrush?
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 5 жыл бұрын
It all comes down as to how you describe 'best'. If we judge it by clinical studies alone, from the data available Oral-B brushes are generally considered better in the way the clean the teeth and gums. However, in reality, the actual difference in day to day use is very small and any benefits of the cleaning action can be lost, if the user is not moving and positioning the brush correctly. You need to use the correct brushing technique to get the best results. Unless in the strict conditions and tests of a clinical study, it is very difficult to honestly say Oral-B is better than Sonicare. Both are excellent and more than good enough for most people. Some will have a preference as is the case with many things in life. When you consider the whole package such as the design of the brush, the features, the box contents, the price etc the result is different. Personally I think if price was not a factor, the Sonicare DiamondClean Smart is actually the 'best' (all round) smart electric toothbrush. The brush feels better, looks classier and the travel case is much better than Oral-B. However, here in the UK, the price is very expensive and the benefits over the Genius X are not significant enough to justify what is usually a high price premium. This therefore means that on most occasions the Genius X is the better product when you factor in price and really is at present the best smart electric toothbrush. I hope my explanation makes sense.

Thanks for the great reviews. Can you tell me if the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean vibrates the handle and/or stops the brush if too much pressure is applied to the teeth to alert the user? (I think the Genius X does this).
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 4 жыл бұрын
Sergio, if too much pressure is detected by the toothbrush (DiamondClean Smart) then it will vibrate the handle and light up the pressure sensor too. It doesn't actually stop the brush head movements completely, but it will slow.

You failed to mention that many people complain about the short lifespan of the Philips brushes. They tend to malfunction pretty often after just a few months.
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 4 жыл бұрын
I do acknowledge the issue as quite a few people have complained about it, including directly to me. I don't have the evidence to say that this is a general problem and should be a reason to go against the brush. If it fails in the first few months, or even 2 years, you have the 2 year warranty to cover such issues.

I've had my Oral-B Sonic Complete for over 12 years. I've changed the battery since. But now the heads are getting rare to come around. Most available online aren't genuine. It's not like printer toner, it's oral care! It's sad Oral-B decided to get off the Sonic type products. I decided to switch to Philips Sonicare. Even if research says a smaller brush might do a better job, I much prefer the feeling of a slightly larger brush. And the sonic type clean is great. I can't wait to try it out!

how effective is the emmi-dent and megasonex toothbrushes that use ultrasound tech?
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Aime. These are certainly alternative products that are available and on the whole they are deemed effective. How effective is a little subjective depending on what you are measuring. They are as good as a regular electric toothbrush and there is evidence to suggest they are better, but typically electric (sonic & oscillating rotating) brushes offer better value for money.

very helpful but i have a question. what are the rates per second for each toothbrush and how does that matter? thanks
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 4 жыл бұрын
Anita. Good question. The short answer is that it does not really make a significant difference. The brushing technique, brushing time and routine is far more important than the number of movements. The slightly longer answer is that the number of movements depends on the cleaning/brushing mode used. At full power the Sonicare DIamondClean offers up to 62,000 movements (31,000 brush strokes) per minute. The Genius X offers 48,000 pulsations and 10,500 oscillations. The cleaning actions are different. This means the sensation when brushing is also different and because of this it is difficult to make an accurate side by side comparison to say one is better than the other etc. Both overall deliver a good standard of clean. if you need more information, please let me know.

So assuming I’ve now after seeing this I’ve chosen to go with the Genuis X , how many models are there and how do you choose between them please? I’ve never had a proper electric toothbrush before and I want to get it right. Many thanks.
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Cara. Are you asking how many Genius X models there are or how many toothbrush models in general? There are many models of electric toothbrushes from different brands etc all at different price points with different features. The Genius X is the top of the range model from Oral-B, you don't get much better.
@Daydreameruk
@Daydreameruk 5 жыл бұрын
Electric Teeth well I did wonder if there were more x models, now I think if it’s right there is the x and the x luxe. And I see their two merits. Then I went and watched the 9000 v X, and apart from looking at the camera v the x working it out. But you won’t need to use the camera after teaching yourself how to do it correctly. So if I like the purple and white 9000 over the black X I think I should go for the 9000 as it comes with more heads and I prefer the colour. Am I correct? Your videos have helped massively so Thankyou.

Also just to ask, does the app work the same in the 9000 and X if not what are the differences please?
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 5 жыл бұрын
You are right Cara about the Genius X and X Luxe. There are no other models. The main difference between the Genius X and the Genius 9000 is that with the X sensors in the brush handle do what the smartphone camera would on the 9000. The X is more convenient to use on a daily basis. We do have a video copmarison that might help explain further, but you seem to have sussed out the main differences: kzbin.info/www/bejne/goOapampnpdgq7s You are right about once having taught yourself not needing to use it so frequently. It will of course be a personal decision. The Genius X is much easier to just check your brushing style with as and when you want compaed to the 9000. But, if you like the purple coloured 9000 over the colours available with the X, then go for the 9000.

Genius X is far better than Genius 9000 due to the latter needing your phone’s camera for the Position Detection feature. Unless you use the suction cup phone holder (which often slips off tiled walls in my experience) and keep looking directly at it, Genius 9000 is very fussy about position detection and stops as soon as you look a few millimetres away.

What’s the difference between the 9700 and the 9750? Is the 9750 worth the upgrade?
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 5 жыл бұрын
No, it is not worth the upgrade. As far as I am aware the 9750 is available in the USA. (Not sure on where you are located). The difference between the 9700 and the 9750 (as far as I know) is the 9750 comes with a brush head storage compartment and 4 brush heads, whereas the 9700 comes with no storage compartment and 8 brush heads. So, in fact, it is just a slightly different package contents and not really an upgrade.

Apologies if I didn't focus on this enough for you. They both clean the teeth very well indeed and I have no complaints. Clinical data typically sides with Oral-B being the best, and this is my personal preference. However, more research is ultimately needed to conclusively say one is better than the other. Both are better than a manual brush when used correctly.

@@ElectricTeeth I found another of your videos, comparing Oral-B to Sonicare, where I have heard more information. But I'm still doing my research. For years I've been using most basic Oral-B, so I have experience with that, I have my favourite brushing head and I am quite happy with it. I look for sth more portable (DiamondClean with the charging case is the best in this category) and focused on whitening. Plus I need to think about my wife's braces. Sonic toothbrush seems like more optimal technology for that, instead of mechanical cleaning of Oral-B. Bluetooth and app in my opinion are an overkill. I speak as a gadget maniac. I just can't imagine using smartphone while cleaning my teeth. The activity should be as quick and simple as possible. Timer and pressure sensor can be useful to improve on cleaning technique. Maybe additional more intensive mode for whitening. Rest of the features are only there to build up the price and as over-complication are potential risk of failure.

Great. The DiamondClean is a nice toothbrush nd the in-case charging is implemented nicely. I often switch between Oral-B and Sonicare and I am happy with both. I am sure you will be too. Sonicare tends to work out a little more expensive, but not significantly.

Sonicare do make 'compact' heads which are smaller. However, these compact heads are a lot less common. It would appear that Sonicare are phasing them out. It could have been a compact head you saw on the toothbrush.

I understand what you are saying. Part of this is personal opinion. Hopefully the following gives more insight. If money is no object then the DiamondClean Smart is the brush to go for, it is the more premium and complete package. Basically it is the best. But, in the UK it is expensive and can be hard to justify. The considerably lower price point of the Genius X cannot be ignored. A touch less refined it might be, but the Oral-B Genius X is still an incredibly powerful and capable electric toothbrush that offers a fantastic clean and user experience.

Sorry I have not created a US version of this video, but I have created a written article for the US market: www.electricteeth.com/oral-b-genius-x-vs-philips-sonicare-diamondclean-smart/ The official retail price of the Genius X is $220 and $250 for the standard and luxe models. The DiamondClean Smart (9500 variant) has a suggested retail price of $270. Brushes like this, particularly Oral-B can often be found selling for around 20% less than this, making the standard Genius X around $175. Although Sonicare are often dearer and subject to 10% discount, so a price of around $240 is more common. Over a 3 year period, the DiamondClean can work out much more expensive, especially when you factor in the premium brush heads. As a benchmark $0.30 per day for the Sonicare compared to as little as $0.20 per day for the Oral-B.
