Oral English Proficiency Testing -1969

One of the most active proponents of the oral approach to teaching English in the 1960s was Australian George Pittman. Pittman and his colleagues were responsible for developing an influential set of teaching materials based on the situational approach to teaching English which were widely used in Australia, New Guinea, and American Samoa. They also used the Tate materials developed by Pittman's colleague Gloria Tate.
