Oral rehabilitation procedure: Selective Grinding in Prosthodontics

In an ideal occlusal arrangement, the load exerted on the dentition should be distributed equally. Selective grinding is an important constituent of oral rehabilitation procedures. It is defined as the intentional alteration of the occlusal surfaces of teeth to change their form. Occlusal rehabilitation is done as a diagnostic procedure prior to the construction of fixed partial dentures. Ideally, these procedures are to be conducted for all patients. Selective grinding is indicated based on the rule of thirds, according to which in CR, if the cusp tip occlude against the opposing cusp incline close to the opposing fossa then selective grinding is advisable.

If we are moving mandible laterally towards right side, how right will be mediotrusive. Shouldn't it be laterotrusive ( working side)???

To stabilize the complete denture there should be at least 3 contacts. One at anterior and 2 posteriors.
