How is this different from bonded retainers? It looks MUCH bulkier, less precise, and could possibly leave too many tiny pockets for plaque to embed into.

These are used as a splint to help stabilize a loose tooth/teeth, not for orthodontic retention. Two entirely different applications

Ma non c'è un'alternativa? Mi è stato proposto una specie di ricostruzione linguale dei denti che, oltre a fungere da splintaggio, li regolarizza anche in lunghezza quindi chiusura.
