It's pure wickedness, I have seen the effect on people who I know had been given wrong fathers. The mothers knowingly did it- one to "spite the man" the other because she didn't want anyone to know she had sex with that man. One that I am familiar with the child was robbed of a father in his life because the one who she gave him to never accepted him or helped financially with him. The one she didn't give to was fighting to help the child. Now that he is older and did a sibling DNA and found out its the rejected fathers child he is related to, she still is denying it. At 48 years old I can list at least 10 persons in my age group with similar jacket issues that I know close. The reason the men are not saying anything is that many of them are in supposed stable relationships so they can't talk too hard about the jacket pinned on them

I remember i was on the panel of "Your Issues Live" on TVJ many years ago and Miss Glenda Simms (Head Feminist in Jamaica at the time) said it was all men's fault for running around with so many women why they were getting so many jackets. I believe this jacket thing has happened so much in jamaica it needs to be looked at criminally. My first instinct is administering DNA test at birth. However, I know it is intrusive, and I, too, am afraid to empower the government. The more power we give to the government, the less control we have as a people. Agree 1000%. Couldn't agree more. I also listened to the panel and couldn't believe what I heard. Mandatory DNA testing will lead to more violence in our already very violent society. That's what one of the very educated panelists said and no one contradicted him. The only logical argument I can think of against mandatory DNA testing is that it would drive down Jamaica's already low birth rate, with all the negative consequences of that. Of course none of the panelists, who were all against DNA testing cited that reason. They were all defending careless, loose, women. It's popular today to blame men for all that is wrong in society, and so they did. Cowards!

Let's see what the Mothers' Day discussions look like going forward. It should speak to careless mothers as much as Fathers' Days have been consumed by talks of absent fathers. If that doesn't happen, then what it would suggest is that women are not held to account as men are, and that would be counter to the feminist efforts and put men above women. On the other hand women are given a free passage. Only women can give jackets, so women have to change their behavior to lessen jackets.
