I watched this with my dad. I’m a lifelong Notre Dame fan. My dad is an Oregon fan and he said to me after the game was over I love these type of games. It’s old school football tough defense. Every possession is important and most of all it’s not a blowout. Go Notre Dame.

The irony in Notre Dame winning last night is that the very quarterback they felt was not up to the task of leading this team is exactly the quarterback who is responsible for the win. Without Steve engineering that drive at the end of the first half when the offense was doing nothing, Penn State would’ve almost certainly won that game. Sure, Penn State made a bad decision in throwing that ball down the middle of the field last night. But it can’t be overstated how important that drive at the end of the first half was in getting Notre Dame‘s offense, and the morale of the team back on track. With Steve behind center next year, his team will be a force to be reckoned with, and I hope that team is Notre Dame. What also can’t be overstated is how well the entire team steps up when necessary, regardless of who gets hurt, or who comes in as a replacement. This is the most impressive Notre Dame team from top to bottom I’ve seen in decades, and they are a very young team.

Because it's been so long ago, no one has mentioned the "Luck of the Irish"! From yesterday years of Knute Rockne days to the '40's, '50's and up through the 1980's, Notre Dame had this persistent mystique, that when the chips were down, and the most impossible odds were against them, the Fighting Irish would somehow win the day! Even game announcers would be caught saying "Don't forget the luck of the Irish". Indeed Notre Dame fans and players had this faith of surmounting the impossible, and never losing hope! This mystique has notably died over the last four decades, as the landscape of college football changed. Now, in no way am I saying that Marcus Freeman's team is winning by "Luck"...these dudes are for real. But the win against Penn State sure reminded me of that old mentality that was (and perhaps will again be) the HERITAGE of ND football.

This won't be discussed in today's context but Coach Franklin's leadership since he took over directly after the NCAA death sentence after the Sandusky scandal has been a notable redevelopment of the Penn State Football program. He was laughed at & ridiculed for even taking the job. Many said PSU would never be back, yet here they are. I think James Franklin's best days are ahead of him. I say this as a Georgia fan who lived in NJ during the days of the PSU scandal. There was a more concentrated media coverage occurring in the northeast at the time. I too thought PSU wouldn't ever be back. Just my two cents.

I've been a penn state football fan for a long time. And the fan base is finally figuring out just exactly who the head coach of james franklin is for penn state. He's living up to his reputation now, "Big Game James". And believe me it's not because there is moe talent amongst The players at notre dame. It's because of superior coaching, preparation & strategy. Good Penn state. Football players like Will Levis and only a few weeks ago back up quarterback Probula make tge right decision And leave. The penn state football program because they are not treated fairly. Such treatment would have never have happened under joe paterno. With a Joe Paterno Penn state football team, those Notre dame short passes and a running quarterback that resoundingly beat Penn Srate yesterday would have been stopped cold. 12 years in and Penn states Franklin cannot, and in my prediction will not, ever break the top 4 college football teams in the nation because he doesn't have a capability. The head coach of penn state football is more concerned about getting to a bowl And filling the stadium. He has some of the best players in college football, but his team will never be a top 4 tem in the nation. Notre dame won by superior coaching and preparation. The second half again was proof exactly who james franklin is as a had football coach for penn state; Big Game James.
