I've heard the Rocker15 as well and I think the Brent Hinds Terror is the more versatile of the two. If you drop the gain below half it turns into an nice classic rock sound but can also do modern metal sounds. The Rocker15 might as well not have a gain knob, from the demos I've seen it doesn't do much past 7 O'Clock. If I were in the market for an amp I'd probably pick up the Brent Hinds.

@scottbykowicz4231

I picked one of these up as the MF Stupid Deal of the Day on Thanksgiving. Took a little experimenting to find that "sweet spot". It has plenty of gain on tap and I love how the tone gets darker as you roll back the gain. I'm running an OCD clone as a boost to tighten things up a bit. It definitely works great for doom metal and big open chords but you can get some great high-gain rock sounds as well.

From what I know from Rocker demos, the reason the "Natural" channel doesn't have an EQ is because it was designed for pedals. It's supposed to be the most "natural", non-colored signal the amp can produce from the guitar's signal. The EQing would all be done with whatever pedals you would put in front of the amp, so it's not really a drawback for me in that case, but I can see guys who are all amp tone might not be stoked on it. Great playing, great demo, def considering it.

Idk, I just haven't really been impressed by any of the demos I've heard of this amp. I was hoping yours would convince me because you usually make everything sound good. It's just got a lot of high end fizziness and not a whole lot of meaty low mids. Just all around too hollow for my taste. I like some thick and chewy mids.

@Tcflohr
@Tcflohr 6 жыл бұрын
from what Ade said, the amp was designed to sound a bit more JMP-ish, where it fattens up with more gain. Orange to me, always means low mids and mids with a fuzzy character, not so much fizz on the high end. I was hoping this amp would sound thunderverb-ish, but no dice there. Gotta keep lugging this heavy ass head around

I have noticed that a lot of Orange amps sound better in a mix then they do on their own. Every time I'd go play one at GC I just couldn't get into the sound, but when I'd hear them in a mix they sound great.

Alexskywalkerr I don’t think the jim root amp has a clean channel so u would really only be versing the dirty sounds and cause it’s orange and there both based on the rocker verb the dirt ya will sound very similar I was gunna buy this as a jim root substitute since there alone the same lines as the rocker verb the jim root terror might be more saturated and more mid range I’m not sure

Pretty much exactly what I was looking for. I needed something darker and fuzzier. I didn't think 15 watts would give me enough low end or enough head room, ended up picking up an orange thunderverb 50 for pretty cheap (around the price of this new). Awesome amp.

alternatively you could get the cr120h. It dooms just as much my OR100 and Tv200 but without the weight. This does look interesting. The lack of eq on the clean annoys me though, especially if you want to go the traditional doom route and just use pedals.
