Oh thank you! I have oranges to get used up. Printing this now to head into the kitchen.

Just finished. I couldn't wait and sampled some on bread and butter. Wow, this is delicious! I got 9 half pints. This is going to make great gifts, but only a few. Not going to lie, sectioning those oranges wasn't fun, but so worth it. 😊

May I add, those peels could be grated and put in the freezer or dehydrated so you always have them for recipes...I use the rinds also to make my cleaners, just put orange peels in a container ,fill with white vinegar, let sit out of the sun for 2-weeks, strain out the orange peels, then your left with a all natural citrus cleaner..HTH.

Add to oatmeal! What a great idea! Yummy with some walnut bits. I'm making this for myself.

@@carol-thriftychichousewife6231 #nativeohiogirlscancook I had my 10 year old granddaughters make your applesauce They are obsessed with it. They love your videos and I am super excited to make some marshmallows with them tomorrow. We plan to add mini chocolate chips to them and make a homemade hot cocoa mix to give as gifts to their friends at school. Keep the ideas and tutorials coming!

Elizabeth Rowe that’s so awesome! What wonderful memories you’re making 💕. I’m gonna be working on my hot cocoa video tomorrow 😉. Love the idea of adding the mini chips to the marshmallows. Have fun, licking the bowl is the best part 😉😉😍

@@carol-thriftychichousewife6231 absolutely! I've made and shared so many of your recipes and videos. I'll share this and be done but I took my water bath canner to Ohio for Thanksgiving (we live in a tiny town in northwestern NC population 327)and taught my bonus daughter how to make your Christmas jam. She's watched a bunch of your videos and she's hooked. She asked for a canner for Christmas lol!

Looks yummy. Not sure how this would go over with my family, but I would love it! Filling cookies with it sound good.

I have everything but the vanilla bean. Can I use just vanilla extract? I’m sure that won’t be as special but hate to go to store just for that.
@carol-thriftychichousewife62314 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can use just extract 😊

If you grade the orange before peel, you will have lemon zest. The pith can be boiled down to make your own pectin. You can find this process on line.

Can you use any orange, such as mandarin as long as you have 6 cups ?

Would it be safe to use canned mandarin Oranges? Or would that be unsafe or not the right flavor profile?

Question Carol: is it 4 pounds pre- or post peeled? Did that make 4 pints?
@carol-thriftychichousewife62315 жыл бұрын
Amy Barker sorry for the delay... 4 lbs including peeling. Yes, 4 pints 😊. I’m sorry I wasn’t clear in the description. You need 6 cups sectioned which is approximately 4 lbs. unpeeled. Does that make sense?

Amy Barker oh my goodness, my brain is not working today... it’s half pint jelly jars not pints... sorry. I got almost 5. I canned 4 then showed what I had left at the end of the video. I’m sorry, I hope I didn’t mess you up 😘
