I'm not from Cali so I'm unfamiliar with the reason DLS has fallen so much, even though they're still pretty good. Are all the talent they used to get going to schools like SJ Bosco, Mater Dei and Bishop Gorman, or other Norcal schools? I know things always change but just curious the reason.

NorCal football has fallen behind SoCal ball big time. DLS is still a Top 5 team up North but every team up there would finish at the bottom of the Trinity League and likely second in multiple leagues.

De La Salle didn’t travel south to play SoCal teams during their 12 year run. They wouldn’t have been undefeated for that long had they thought of playing non league games that far.

@@karlsimonian6164 Raleek Brown and Jordon Davison are two of the best (if not the best) RBs in the state the past few years. Both from NorCal, and both went to MD. And we MD alumni are very thankful. 😂

DLS not longer a top flight team. They fight hard and have talent but without a deep threat passing attack and beatable DB's they will be owned by the more powerful teams down south. Would be real surprised to see them at state but they often do surprise me.

A lot of talent that DLS is used to poaching will leave to go south to play for top teams in SoCal. I know, kids from my own school district have left to Mater Dei not even kidding. They're a disciplined team that will continue to succeed in NorCal games though.

@@samuelma7709 Thank you. Someone who actually acknowledges that DLS got talent from throughout the region throughout the glory days. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but you’d think that had never happened to hear the DLS homers talk. Once MD and Bosco started doing the same, it was lights out for DLS. The streak was cool while it lasted, though.

@@samuelma7709 nah at first all the best Bay Area kids went too de la sale but de la salle runs an outdated offense no top receivers or quarterbacks who want to be heavily recruited wants to play in that offense Donnie the talent spreaders out to teams like serra, st Francis , mcclymonds , folsom and Pitts burg de la salle needs to stop being stubborn and get with the times if they change that offense the program will be back on top

I was just thinking the same thing. The pro style and RPO has taken over. That’s how kids get seen now. The discipline is still there for DLS but the mystique is gone. I’ve also never been a fan of schools that recruit like this. You might as well play nothing but private schools cuz that’s the only other schools that recruit and have the resources that every kid needs and deserves. Public schools just can’t offer that.

Iam class of 87 and been on several coaching staff on numerous teams from 1989 to 2003 here in San Diego California I can remember de la salle struck fear in so Cali ,no one wanted that smoke,they laid the blueprint and the early 2000s Mater Dei,st John bosco and corona centennial all got beat in the early state championship games off season those so Cali teams watch and study DLS and now so Cali is running shit especially the trinity league,DLS we need you to get back to your old program and compete,make California hs football no cal and so Cali on a different level from any state

DLS didn’t strike fear in SoCal. SoCal football in the 90’s was probably some of the best teams in CIF history. From LA to the IE. Maybe struck fear in San Diego lol
