The Rockerverb has so many good features for not much more money. You get built-in reverb, an excellent clean channel, EL34's, and the attenuator for $350 more. Seems worth it to me.

This is all very true. The Rockerverb is a lot more powerful with its feature set, but the overall core tone is more tweak-able on the OR30 in my opinion. It all depends on your setup and whether you prefer your guitar volume control. They both sound wonderful though. Thanks for watching 👍

I had the OR30 for about two weeks, then I decided to return it. Not because I didn't like it, but because putting a little extra money to get the RV mk3's versatility looked like the logical solution, as it's my main amp now. I have an OR50 too, so I didn't feel too bad letting the OR30 go. The OR50 is my favourite amp ever, it just sounds like everything I've ever wanted to hear from an amp!

Oh, wow! Welcome to the Rockerverb Club! The RV50 Mk iii has been my main amp for the last 7 years. I do love the OR30 though, the presence and bright switch are so powerful. I’m just still developing the guitar volume control technique for achieving clean tones. It can be challenging performing songs that I didn’t accommodate for this method of tonal shift. Orange Amps are an integral part of my sound now though. Everything else doesn’t seem quite right to me. Each to their own, I guess. Thanks for watching!

I was about to get a RVIII and then the OR30 came out. There's just something more Orange about the OR30 than the RV. I don't know how to explain it; not only is the amp a bit more open sounding but the notes sit more forward of the fizzle than they do on the Rockerverb. It is much more pleasant to hear. I actually ended up getting the OR30 over the RVIII because of demos like this one.

I love the gain structure and compression of the OR30. It’s a lot more vintage in character and lots of fun to play through. Thanks for watching and have fun with your new amp 👍

Really good demo. Well done. I'm kind of interested in the OR15, for studio/home use. The features are different, and power, but I'm starting to get the impression that the core tone is more similar than different. Would buy the Rockerverb, for the reverb and attenuator, but can't afford it. And have a Surfybear Classic and Captor 16 I can use for that anyway. The OR15 only has a 15w & 7w mode, though that's pretty useful anyway. At least it does have a send/return. Good volume for studio recording, and is probably loud enough for rehearsal room, with a good sized cab close by.
@DannyBeardsley2 ай бұрын
15 watts will be absolutely fine. If you’re hoping for pristine cleans though, it might not deliver that. That being said, I prefer clean tones with a little bit of hair. 👍 Thanks for watching. Studio use, 100%!
@compucorder642 ай бұрын
@@DannyBeardsley Yes, I'm in the same came. I have a Victory V40 & Vox AC30 for different shares of the high-headroom loud clean amp to slightly gritty thing. And a Marshall JTM for that clean with hair/fuzz. So more interested in the OR15 for drive tones, but it's nice it can do a fuller deeper clean without as much of a blown out bass response as the JTM, which you have to dial the bass back on, or it gets blown out.

Great video! I also own the or30 and it's incredible. I don't also own the Rockerverb, but I know that the or30 is considerably tighter in the high bright setting and I think you had the mild bright setting on the bright, which I also prefer, but I think it could sound more Rockerverby on the high bright setting (on the bright switch) with some EQ ofc.
@DannyBeardsleyАй бұрын
I was surprised on the similarities actually, they react differently to touch though. The RV has more of an immediate response, compared to that of the OR30. We are talking very subtle differences here. I personally think the biggest factor in tonal shaping is the speaker. Plug one amp heads in to different speaker cabinets, the tonal shift is far greater than mixing two amps and one speaker cabinet. Speakers aren’t as exciting as an amp though 😂😂😂 Thanks for watching. 👍
@Myself6M29 күн бұрын
Thanks, I also noticed that the Rockerverb was half power, but then I noticed in the isolated tracks that the OR30 recorded considerably louder. It's noticeable if you put the headphones very loud, then OR30 hurts more. But it makes sence the rockerverb was also half power. But then listening back to the tracks in the mix, both amps cut about the same (even though I can perceive the volume difference). The Rockerverb is more cutting for sure. But then the low end on the Or30 is way bigger. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.
@DannyBeardsley29 күн бұрын
The half power was an attempt to match the overall headroom. To try and balance the odds a little. I’m glad to hear you’ve enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching.
@Myself6M28 күн бұрын
Also the vintage feel was apparent on the Or30, when you were playing chords, the or30 felt like ACDC, where the Rockerverb felt like the Tool. It's probably the best demo of the amp on KZbin btw.

Awesome shootout and playing, I actually preferred the OR30 a bit. I play an Orange Dual Terror live and was thinking of getting an OR15 to pair with it on the other side of the stage, I've heard they're incredibly loud for a 15 watt amp.
@DannyBeardsley5 ай бұрын
Thanks very much. Cheers for watching. The Dual Terror is awesome. The OR15 would be very loud still. Very misleading with wattage rating. I remember when I first got a tube amp, it had to be a 100 watts! Big mistake! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Excellent demo and great playing Danny. If you could only keep one of the two amps, which one would you keep?
@DannyBeardsley2 ай бұрын
Thanks very much for watching. Oh my! That’s a difficult question. I think once I’ve used the OR30 in a live setting, I’ll be able to answer this question better. I have a feeling the amp will be immensely loud on stage, and the sound engineer will kick off 🤣 The great thing about the Rockerverb is the attenuator, it’s helped me out loads when sorting stage volume. I think I prefer the gain tone and feel of the OR30 though. Very satisfying playing experience 👍

Wow, there's not much in it! Ever so slightly darker with the RV, but sounds incredibly similar over KZbin. I just added an OR30 to my little Orange collection (Rocker 30 head and AD30HTC) two weeks ago. Love that bright switch! Changes the character completely. Seems to have a fair bit more gain than the Rocker 30, despite having the same amount of gain stages. I was thinking it might be more in line with the bigger RV heads. Certainly seems that way here.
@DannyBeardsley6 ай бұрын
I believe the OR30 is the big brother version of the OR15, which has quite a lot of gain on tap. Surprisingly similar I agree, although the bright switch was set to the left in this demo. If I’d set to the right position, the tonal difference would probably be a little more obvious. It’s hard to capture all these elements in a short clip. I have to say that the feel is different between both amps. I like the saggy feel of the OR30 for all my solo material. The RV excels at super cleans and the tight, heavy gain sounds. Try turning the bass control all the way down and blend in gradually. I find it to be an effective way of setting guitar amps 👍 Nice to meet another Orange Amp enthusiast! Thanks for watching.

How does the ad30 compare to the OR? As far as overdriven sounds, don't really care about cleans ha
@Polyphemus.6 ай бұрын
@@CapitanJax AD30 is great for all flavours of overdrive from edge of breakup up to a very open indie rock type drive. I find it works really well with single coils in particular. I've only had the OR30 for about three weeks but so far it's a much thicker sounding kind of drive. Pulling the gain back and flipping the bright switch to the left gets you pretty close to AD30 territory, but maybe slightly more compressed. Bright switch to the right is a much more noticable Plexi-type bite. But it's real strength is in heavily overdriven sounds. It's got the most gain out of the three I own. Huge amount of bottom end. It really likes my Firebird's mini-humbuckers, which tend to sound a bit thin in all my other amps. Rocker 30 is more like a JCM800 on steroids. Definitely the best one for my Les Paul. The low end is cleaner, holds together a bit better and sounds a bit tighter. It's the most different with EL34s and a solid-state rectifier. If I had to pick bands as analogies for them, it might be: AD30 = Oasis Rocker 30 = Alice In Chains OR30 = Mastodon Hope that helps!

Thanks for the comparison. Is the OR30 still the brighter amp if the presence and bright switch are off, or bright switch on second brightest setting? So, by adjusting the presence and bright switch of the OR30, the OR30 will be the darker sounding amp of the two? Thanks.

Thanks for the watching. In the middle position, this is the closest to a standard Orange amp gain sound, but the presence needs to be over halfway in my experience.

IMHO OR30 wins here. We need to remember that different guitar could give us different results, and sometimes even shockingly different.
