Orange You Glad I Didn't Say Banana ~ Monochrome Makeup

Hi Guys & Dolls!
I've wanted to so a Monochrome look for a while and since Orange is so hot right now it seems like the perfect one to do. A few weeks ago Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics sent me some items to review and I'm so impressed with them and I used several in this tutorial. I've really fallen in love with both the Loose Color Concentrates and especially the new Cream Color Concentrates. "Grandma" is a bright Coral that has just enough of a coolness to it that it works on my red-based complexion. I used it on my eyes, cheeks and lips to create a harmonious monochrome makeup look. " Trick" is the other I used, and it's my new go-to for contouring; I've heard John Doe is also quite good for contouring, so I'm going to have to check that one out as well. Sadly, my new favorite eyeshadow, the incredible duo-chrome one I used for the the lid, "Hum" has been discontinued. You can still get it while it lasts on the Sephora website, but it's going going, gone. In the event that you can't get Hum, Twirl might be a good alternative.

The trick to making a bold color like Orange to not just look fun, but also beautiful is to create a neutral base, and blend, blend blend. I this having fresh but perfected skin keeps the look clean and stops it from looking tacky. Each color and texture was carefully selected to create a look that looks effortless ^_^

I loved the new format. I don't care for voice overs for the most part cause I like to watch people's expressions and most voice overs seem dull and scripted. I love that with the new format, we get to see the makeup application AND YOU!

I agree that this is definitely a happy medium between a voice over and actually talking while doing the makeup. The lighting was fabulous, too! Loved it all!

I'm really impressed with this format. It speeds up the tutorial because you aren't slowing down to explain as you try to concentrate on your makeup, but it's still giving that person to person connection because I can see you talking to the camera. I generally tend to dislike voiceovers with a passion but this was a pretty cool way of doing it. Also this also lets us look at the final result while following along with the steps, which makes it much easier to follow, I think.

I love the new background showing the layout of your room. The lighting sets a great mood and you're, of course, a great decorator. Very nice. Orange can be really tricky but you made it beautiful. I wear it quite a bit since I have green eyes. I'm glad you pointed out the use of brown in blending/transition and dark around the eye.. it really helps make those brights more wearable and I find it works with just about any color.

I LOVE pairing Flamepoint with Sin from UD, Sin all over the lid, and Flamepoint in the outer v and crease. Blend it out really well and it almost get this peachy/coraly shade that looks lovely against my blue eyes. One of my go-to spring/summer looks :D

This looks awesome! The ONLY thing I would suggest, if I may be so bold, is that next time you maybe try a brown eyeliner rather than black? I got what you said about using black, but I feel like a brown would look more in sync with the oh-so-warm color scheme, and just generally lighter for such a springy/summery look while still defining the eyes nicely. Of course, it looks great as is regardless :)

Beautiful! So nice to see someone pale using colors like orange. I own almost all of these products, so i will have to give this look a try. I'm super pale, and lately I've been using OCC Cream Color Concentrate in John Doe as a contour. The slightly taupe-y shade makes it look like a believable shadow, but it's not grey enough to be unflattering.
