To be honest this is really cool, it makes me actually interested in playing him because before he just didn’t appeal to to me being a straight up busted food goblin but I love the idea of having to work out, and also all the passive strongman buffs. I cannot stand having my speed hindered by the marble suit and piggy back so those buffs make them VERY appealing to me now.

I literally never used Wolfgang for the same reason no matter how powerful he may have been. Now? I'd totally use him. I'd much rather him as he is than how he was, they did a great job with this update. Besides, you can always still use a walking cane for speed and when you've spent time playing characters that either don't have a speed bonus or you just barely used it, you're pretty much already used to regular speeds. I was worried about his rework having not even played him before, but now he sounds even more appealing and manageable.

Just wanna say I really appreciate the positive out-look on the rework. It's nice to see a DST youtuber provide another perspective on the update instead of claiming the update is supposedly tedious or the such. I'm really enjoying the update conceptually so far and I can't wait to see it reach it's full potential soon. Having constant values instead of linear scaling is insanely awesome!

I always thought that Wolfgang was way too simple and easy for his ridiculously good upsides. Extra hunger drain for ridiculous damage, extremely high health, and a speed boost. This new rework gives return on damage, has more in-depth mechanics, and lots of unique strong man features. Rework ftw.

Wolfgang in a world he is a real hog, he just steals your meatballs and hogs all the food to rush the ruins and basically is all by himself, something that isn't really cooperative in a coop game, so this refresh is really well developed for that, making wolfgang a proud communist and not a greddy capitalist

@@Kelly-ju7nx you're right. but only experienced players know how to constantly have enough food to stay mighty 24/7 as well as topping off your hunger DURING boss fights to stay at 2x damage. The rework just straight up lowers the skill ceiling because now you just stand around doing nothing to get constant 2x damage. If it was already easy then they made it even easier. Wolfgang was one of the least played characters so I've no doubt they did this on purpose to make him attractive to newer players

Carrots, juicy berries, potatoes, or even stone fruit have decent hunger and fast animations that can be used during boss fights if you don’t like the meat animation. While the speed boost will be thoroughly missed i think its the right choice for balance. It just pushed wolfgang from being the best in combat to being the best at almost everything. Gathering? Exploring? just pick wolfgang, hes 25% faster.

Basically they reworked his speed into a different kind of speed. The speed that would have been just direct speed is now speedier heavy items, like marble suits, piggybacks, suspicious marbles, etc. He's still fast, just a different kind of fast!

actually what about adding a treadmill/funny running circle, that other survivors can use to get back his speed boost but having the speed boost and strength will make hunger go down super fast (one or the other and if you have both get increased hunger drain other survivors can ONLY use the treadmill for the boost so no strength)

Wolfgang actually didn't lose much of his speed. Old Wolfgang had to wear armor + milk hat or helmet + hunger belt. New Wolfgang can wear helmet + Magiluminescence, which gives 20% speed boost.

The golden dumbbell reminded me of a fun fact: Gold isn't a hard metal and is quite soft as you know, but that trade off in hardness goes in toughness. A gold tool in real life would be less efficient, but *more* durable. So technically all the gold tools hold some truth.

Removal of the speed is IMO a good thing to balance him out. He feels like a more focused version of his original design, his _core_ of dealing the most damage out of everyone is better than ever, he has a few extra bonuses that help him feel different, _and_ with the speed getting cut out he's no longer as universally combat dominant, making a little room for the other combat centric characters. Very well executed rework.

I think instead of doing exersize and weight lifting should have been the same mighty but actually gain it from doing physical activities like chopping and mining so he cant just be staying at base waiting for wicker and webber comes back with food. Realistically, the devs can only do so much to force people to play fair without literally ruining the fun of the game. If you play with other people, you're accepting to a degree that some of those people are going to suck. If you don't like that, either play with people you know or play single player. That's what I do.

Wolf on the other hand had no character that ever came close to his level of power (maybe except Wanda, but I haven't played her so idk). Klei basically upgraded the sustainability of Wolfgang's mightiness and upgraded his utility. The speed boost will be missed, but we can always get a walking cane though he's not as fast as before. It forces Wolfgang players to get a walking cane or set up the arena before speedrunning other bosses. Though it's hard cause you have to wait for winter. I love a good challenge. The buff regarding the piggyback and the marble suit for Wolfgang is a nice addition. It makes me wanna plant lots of marble seeds. For heavy items, they made it so that Wolgang doesn't need a beefalo anymore. I always wanted this for Wolfgang when I first started using him. I love how they added the GYM, and it uses heavy items to buff him, and he can be strong enough to lift those heavy items with ease. I wonder if we can use the suspicious marbles for the GYM... -My Opinion

any items that are considered big and have to be carried on the back is usable on the gym (yes giant crops can be used on the gym, and they are as good as boss statues in terms of weight)

For anyone curious why it is important Wolfgang lost their speed. In almost any video game having a higher speed stat is preferable. You can act sooner, heal safer, do whatever easier. The ability to have a bigger window to evade attacks and get back in is huge. If you can run away faster to heal it is easier to survive and get far enough. So many games have the over powered thing be tied to speed in some way. If you go first, evade, or whatever you win more often. This is why fast thief type characters are physically frail. You move fast so you get hit less hence you need less power as your dodging is easier. This is enough to be OP in of itself. Now imagine you gave that same character 2x the base damage. Even dying in 1 hit that character might still be OP. In base game design the player is almost always faster then their enemies for this reason save for more horror situations or big/strong enemies which are meant to be threatening. (Which is done by combining speed and power typically.)

Speed in game that aren't turn based is really op is like tanking but with more skill involved like you can do more thing when you have high speed.so speed is already broken in a lot of game BUT old Wolfgang has SPEED STRENGTH HEALTH that's too much for a character so I see why the removed speed to greatly increase strength and health

i used to hate wolfgang. He was so uninteresting and just too strong for such a little cost to himself (the team on the other hand would feel the pain of no food) And so strong that people would say every other character was garbage "Like who cares if you can make a catapult, you cant do x2 damage" But now this is actually interesting. Still has his damage, but is no longer a tank. separating him from WX (for now) and is no longer a speed demon... separating him from WX... (for now) and no longer needs to eat all the supplies... separating him from WX..... (for now)

And how exactly hes no longer a tank? He lost his speed debuff but he can now use the marble suit, an armor specifically designed for tanking situations, without losing speed like the rest of the characters. He can literally tank way better than before

Ima say the same thing I said to another guy that was, no speed and new mini game so big bad character 0/10, there's no more just eating and holding f, and he's still busted, I'm decent at the game, killed dfly day 22 and now I can gain might in like 15 seconds if I'm at 0 there's PROGRESSION now it's still ez mode thou

The speed is part of why Wolfgang needed a rework, high damage, high speed, hunger drain remedied by eating food which also restores health. You only have pros when you learn the game. Wilson can kite, everyone can... make it easier for a character to kite and then for any obstacle people pick Wolfgang. Now you need to give 15 seconds to gain damage. Damage which I might add means weapons have 2x durability. You can wear a Marble Suit for free or a Piggyback for free giving you the best harvesting potential of any character. Wolfgang is relatively speaking the most powerful character in of themselves.

I think this might actually be the first time I legit play Wolfgang out of my 2639 hours in Don't Starve Together. (I know it's crazy that I've barely even touched him as when I use to play DST a lot I mostly played as Maxwell or Wormwood.)

Standard Wolfgang don't need to eat always, only in fights, not in mighty form hunger drains slowly. Cons: need more food to run fast and exterminate everything. With updated Wolfgang. Cons: a half of time you spend in game is basically standing still to... To die from boredom.

Considering looking at Wolfgang work out makes me hear the song "you got that" and makes me want to work out while the only other form of entertainment to do that was dragon Ball z, I would say that this was a very positive change indeed

Wolfgang makes marble suit literally better log suit and piggyback becomes just a better backpack. This is a buff for all i care
