Greta Garbo was a Swedish-American movie actress, very beautiful and very famous during Hollywood's "Golden Age," mostly the 1930s. She famously retired from acting at a fairly early age and spent the rest of her life living in seclusion as a recluse.

I was able to get SHUNT in three tries: ADIEU, CRUST, SHUNT and I was OK in Strands. I did well in Connections with no mistakes, but could not name the purple category. By the way I DID see THE SHINING: All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. My BRAIN FART continues with the purple categories. My favorite horror/suspense movie is POLTERGEIST. 😎

Looks like my results have disappeared again. An abbreviated version: I got Wordle in 2 guesses. STARE, SHUNT STRANDS: No hints CONNECTIONS: Forward rainbow, no mistakes. Like many players, I was hesitant to enter "Extra Virgin Olive Oil," thinking it was probably too obvious to be valid. But this wasn't the first time they've used this trick, so I thought they might be at it again. (As Tigerboy pointed out, they did something similar with LIONS TIGERS BEARS OH MY.) "The Shining" is one of my favorite movies, so that popped right out at me, and the Yellow and Green were pretty straightforward. YELLOW: A small amount of food GREEN: Outer coverings for plants and animals BLUE: "Extra Virgin Olive Oil" PURPLE: Things seen in "The Shining"

I KNEW that you would get the purple category in Connections, Dora. 😂 I was OK with my BRAIN FART this time because I submitted the green category first. GREAT job with your games. 😎

A dumb mistake cost me a 2 today CAIRN SHOUT (wheres the N, dummy) SHUNT. Fluked Connections, after getting green and yellow i thought the shining (purple set) was something to do with company logos.

I am surprised that you have never seen this movie, Andrea. You and your daughter like horror/suspense movies. Jack Nicholson has done quite a few good movies during his career. You need to see THE SHINING. It is quite good. Dora and I recently talked about Shelley Duvall displaying very good acting skills in this movie. She also played Olive Oil in POPEYE along side with Robin Williams. It was a SILLY movie. I have been pestering Oranje to see FREEDOM WRITERS with Hilary Swank. This movie is based on a true story and Swank portrays the ideal teacher. 😎

@hopechazz i actually try to avoid horror movies. I have such terrible nightmares, my brain doesn't need the extra image fodder to draw from. I watched lots of them in my youth though. Books don't seem to bother my nightmares too much, so I stick with those.

Connections : What had to be a red herring, turned out not to be a red herring. Puzzle #596 🟩🟩🟩🟩Outer layer of living things (tree, fish, molluscs, mammals for example) 🟨🟨🟨🟨morsel 🟦🟦🟦🟦Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Is it really that simple? 🟪🟪🟪🟪Associated with Abraham Lincoln's Boyhood home. Skill 95/99 Uniqueness 1 in 11. Predictably 1/5 difficulty, 90% solve rate, 64% scoring the perfect solve. This has to be the highest ever. This isn't the first time they have thrown one ringer of a red herring that turned out to be a solution, that last puzzle was "LIONS TIGERS BEARS OH MY!" (famous line in the Wizard of Oz). However there, you could have gone for it because in that same puzzle was the word GIMME, a subliminal hint. No such hint like that today, which made me hesitant You could have given me all day and I wouldn't have correctly called out Purple. I don't do horror films. Period. The worst film I've ever seen was Eraserhead, making me wonder if that's where the producers of Alien got some of their ideas. Alien would have to be my favorite horror movie (if that's even possible), even though I found it gut wrenching. I did watch Aliens, but not any of the others from that franchise.

I agree, Tigerboy, "Eraserhead" was awful! The most bizarre, depressing, and CREEPIEST movie I've ever seen. It was one of the late director David Lynch's early efforts, long before he hit it big with "Twin Peaks." But I can still enjoy a really GOOD horror film when it's well made and truly suspenseful, (like Hitchcock's "Psycho") and has an intelligent plot and interesting characters (like the "Alien" movies and "The Shining.") I don't care for the "slasher" movies, like "Halloween" or "Nightmare on Elm Street," which are just mindless gore and cliched tropes. I understand why many people find them repellant.
@hopechazz
@hopechazz 3 сағат бұрын
Halloween is tolerable because the background music/instruments add the intrigue to this movie. You don't have to see the BLOOD. Chainsaw Massacre is another SLASHER which is a little much, Dora. I found the EXORCIST interesting ONLY because of the makeup used for Linda Blair's face and the voices/sounds coming out of her. 😎

@@hopechazz I would definitely include "The Exorcist" on my list of all-time great horror movies. Very innovative -- unlike anything we had ever seen in a movie before, and very shocking for it's time. Saturday Night Live (back when it was still funny) did a hilarious parody of the film. I think Gilda Radner played "the Mom."
