I can’t believe this is still legal and happening in the US in the year 2023, their main fins are STILL bent over showing serious signs of bad health and lack of proper environments… this should never have been something humans profit off of. I kind of just assumed this was no longer something being practiced/sold to people at this point in time until I came across this video just now. These pools may seem huge to us but they’re literally the size of a puddle to these beautiful animals. The lop sided sagging fins is a tell tale sign that they are not getting the care, space, food, HAPPINESS, and socialization that they require to thrive. Sea world eventually maybe hundreds of years from now WILL force these whales to evolve to be horribly aggressive and dangerous to humans. Wake up people, this is not going to end well for humans but especially for orcas as an entire species.

Any possibility of a reinstatement of the breeding program? At least last I knew the law still allowed for it. Assuming it still does,its a window of opportunity that at least at this point in time is still open. There are questions of limited gene pool, animals being to closely related and the possibility of inbreeding that have some people concerned,, but I believe that those are difficulties that could be surmounted and overcome, if there is still an interest in reviving the program

This makes me sick, they are showing animals in the amazing open ocean while showing these poor orcas jumping around for dead fish! There is a group that has been working nonstop to raise money to buy an island alcove where they could take whales born or raised in captivity and set them free in an open sea pen. They would have the same medical care they have now and there would have to be people to help feed them, but they would liven out t their days feeling the motions of the waves and other sea life. They wouldn’t be puppets performing because there wouldn’t be shows everyday. They deserve so much more than this. SeaWorld says they are a family, they are a group of hybrid whales that don’t exist in the wild, they rip baby whales away from their moms, in the wild they never leave their mothers except for a few transient orcas. Dorsal fin curvature happens in less than 1% of orcas in the wild, while it occurs in most all of the bigger orcas in captivity, even females. It’s sickening.

I work as a SeaWorld rescue member, and you’re failing to realize the fact that they save thousands of whales, and treat them when they are sick.. we build a bond with these animals just like you would train your dog/pet. You’re point is recognized, although we have an underwater tunnel for the whales to go back to the ocean and return when it’s show time.

It’s possible that orca just didn’t want to do it that time. The trainers never force the whales to anything. They can ask them and it’s always up to the whale if/when they want to do it. Last time I went they canceled a whole show bc Katina didn’t want to. And usually if the matriarch isn’t feeling up to the show, they others won’t either

I'm confused. In the documentary Blackfish they mentioned that in the coming future when this show was announced that the trainers would be behind barricades to keep the orcas and the trainers to prevent another incident.

I know someone who was interviewed in that documentary. They said so many good things about SeaWorld's research. Only 1 sentence where they said something bad about SeaWorld was kept in the documentary. I worked in the veterinary field so I knew what I was getting into. Same goes for these trainers: they know the risks.

I don't think anyone is suggesting the trainers do not care about the animals - that is a completely separate discussions from whether or not the animals should be there in the first place. Yes this is a true shame. with that being said, you people don't get it!!! if Sea world can't afford to take care of these beautiful majestic Orca due to lack of attendance, guess what happens to them....... they will end up in another country bought by the highest bidder. (its not possible to release to the wild, I hope that i don't need to go into why) Orca families will suffer a far greater loss. more then likely separated and put into horrible living situations (Sea land like Poor Tilly) or in a tuna can. Full circle back to the 1970s...... Orca snatched from the only home most of this pod has ever known. The answer is STOP the breeding not the Show!!!!! finance life for these Orca because if they are not at Seaworld where are they going to go????? A realistic concerned Orca lover

These orcas are well looked after I know they are still doing their shows but there’s nothing they can do to change that and I think the shows are part of showing people to keep the ocean safe and healthy but the main thing is that they are not getting in the water with them anymore and Katina the oldest whale out of the five is doing really well and she very healthy but I didn’t like what The Miami sea aquarium did to Lolita she spent the rest of her life in a tiny tank instead of tank like the ones at seaworld have and they should make the tanks into natural salt water tanks like the one that keiko the star of free Willy had

I went there to Florida Orlando to go see the show before we leave florida Orlando and it was sad leaving it was awesome show and I got absolutely drenched in water I got double splashed once and then slashed by one it was awesome and it cooled me off except that I just had surgery on my chest and it stinged bad! But the show was awesome and I’m planning to go anain but it’s a 3 day drive!!! Which is crazy long I went there for 1 day I plan for next summer to go to sea world again for 2 weeks and really expensive but I’m the only one going becuse family members are somewhere else that summer and I’m booking it for 2024 summer and this summer was burning hot 104 degrees hot but was a beautiful show loved it! ❤

Kids usually look at animals for 11 seconds in zoos, before going to the next animal. Be honest, what do you know about orcas without doing any research now? I know so much about them, and I’ve never seen a wild orca. Trainers at SeaWorld spread wrong information without even knowing it. Today, we can watch so many documentaries about animals. What do you see when looking at an Orca in SeaWorld? Unnatural behavior. Orcas in SeaWorld do teach us how Orcas don’t look in the wild. That is the only thing we can learn from SeaWorld.

@@cryogenicheart2019 No, trust me. Orcas Are Still Suffering in Captivity. Norrmally, male orcas have a straight dorsal fin. Not in captivity though. The bent fin is a sign of stress, sadness and sickness. Orcas in captivity usually die before they are 30. In the wild, the females can live up to 100 years. There are a lot of videos that show orcas attacking humans or even other orcas in captivity. This does not happen in the wild. Orcas are captured from the wild and then brought to SeaWorld. Orcas have feelings and emotions just like we do. When a female orca and her baby get separated, they are sad, search for their babies etc. Orcas are extremely intelligent and are still abused in captivity.
