You never know down the road there might just be that exact thing. A program in Manila to help the blind in Michigan impaired. If I ever became a multimillionaire I would be trying to help as many blind and visually impaired as I could. But I really think that this is a device that should just be given out to anybody who asks for it. This is chump change when it comes to government spending. And it would probably keep more people living more normal lives. That means more people still at work and socially being interactive in society. Sometimes we tend to feel like birds cooped up in a cage. At least I do from time to time. Lol I'm glad you are enjoying the videos have a blessed blessed week.

Hey Vincent buddy. I have been looking forward to this, and ass usual, you did not disappoint. It was like watching a refresher for me, and reminded me of certain things I had forgotten, like the pause function when reading. and also I forgot its it couldn't read something, it would start from where it left off if you point again - nice one my friend, and thanks I struggled with the hand/fist and finger pointing at times when I first got the orcam, but perseverance is the key for sure. Also, what I found works for me best is, if it doesn't seem to get my knuckle, or finger, rather than moving my hand or finger around until it finds it, I just adjust my head position very slightly, eg, turn a little left, or right, or up or down - it will then find your finger hand. Just something that I found works for me, but may / may not be helpful for others? This works for me also to do the stop sign. I found that sometimes, if out in public, I would be a little embarrassed at having to hold my hand out in front of me in the stop sign for example - so, what I would do is, lay my hand, palm down on my leg, look at my hand on my leg, and it does the same :-) Hahaha - I loved the locating the barcode, 10 hours later...really made me chuckle lol. I dont bother with the bar codes anymore - I do what you do, and look at the box/jar itself etc to read the label, like you said - perfect You have taught me how to muse my orcas for another cool application Vincent. I dont k now why I didn't make the connection with product learning, but, I took it literally, as adding a product like, food, drink etc. I never even thought of the remote, my phone, my wallet, my keys or anything like that before - WOW, im gonna try this and that should be super useful - love it. That was an awesome video Vincent, and I very much look forward to your next instalment. You have a knack of naturally teaching and demonstrating Hope you and your family have a great weekend take care Terry

I'm glad you watched and enjoyed the video. I know it was a long one but there's so much to talk about it's impossible to make it short. Lol and yes there was a part in this video where I stated to move your head around if it was not seeing your finger. Also, I just happened to grab the one and only Gatorade out of the 20 that were on my counter that was almost impossible to notice the barcode on. Lol Usually, if the bar code is white background or black stripes I can usually find it pretty quickly but this particular bottle of Gatorade was black bars on what seemed to be a grayish label. Just could not find the darn thing. Hahaha and what's even more funny is I actually had to cut and edit down the time it took me to properly find the barcode. I actually tried to scan it about three times not just the two in the video. I was actually getting truly frustrated. but I figured I would tease myself and put in a couple clips of me having a few blind moments in my video. I'm glad you enjoyed it and please critique if possible. I'm only trying to get better and I want people to get the point as well determining what their vision loss is at. I hope I was descriptive enough. So I will have one more video on how to get through the settings menus. also, I am going to do random short clips of me using the orcium at different locations in the future. I figured I would give the orcam it's entirely on playlist on my channel. Again, thanks for watching and listening to the video always a pleasure to hear from you. I actually mentioned you to another subscriber today to help them learn Braille. They were from another country and I told them to look into it and I mentioned you as well. so regardless if you knew or not you actually paid it forward and helped somebody else. Thank you very much my friend God bless

It's funny you say that Tony, I found out about the orc him after watching Sam from the blind life and I left him the same exact comment. Fast forward 7 months later and it fell in my lap at a doctor's appointment. you be surprised what could come your way when you really want it. At my doctor's appointment I was telling the doctor how I would love to own this device because I thought it would make my life much easier. Two weeks later I got a phone call saying they got me the your cam. I was forever grateful and forever will be cuz it's a great device. So don't think it's so far off your radar. Just speak up and tell the world you want the or cam. Lol

The orc ham seems awesome, but I’m curious can’t we get apps on our iPhones that will do all of this for a lot cheaper question I’m not trying to put the ark him down just sort of thinking out loud I’d love to have one, but seems like we could get apps for our phones to do much of this stuff.
@myvisuallyimpairedlife56743 жыл бұрын
Yes it is true, there are apps out there that can do some of the things that work in can do also. You have to see that your cam has been out for years now and time and technology is catching up to it. I think the your cam is more about convenience not having to hold your phone go through apps to all these extra steps to make it work. So for the price I would say it's probably better to use the apps if those hassles don't bother you. But there are a lot of things that or cam can do that app still cannot. As far as I know. But I have always said from the beginning. The orc cam is a great device but like every awesome device for the blind they are expensive. I know this device has gotten cheaper over the years but how much I do not know. That's why I always state that if you can get this device for free it's a definite benefit. But what I have ran out there and spent 5 grand on this. No way! I was blessed enough to get it given to me for free. I love the device and I think it was a great invention and far less money than other devices for the blind. But if you can find a way to talk to your doctor or look for a way it can be loaned to you. This is a great effective device. And do your research because there are ways to get devices like this for free no matter where you live. They just don't announce it from the top of the rooftops. Thank you for your comment I hope that you end up owning this device one day and I respect all opinions so you cannot offend me. Ask any question in the future you have.

Well thank you very much Greg, I actually destroyed my eyes in the process. Lol there was so much editing to do in this video. But I am not complaining even though I am!! Hahaha Even though, I can do most of my editing just by listening I feel compelled to still utilize the little vision I have left. No matter how hard I try not to look at the screen or try to read something I cannot help myself. My brain nor my eyeballs like this fact. { but it was all worth it. I agree it's a great little device and I particularly love it even though we have apps on our phones that can do most of this stuff. The item is still very convenient being hands-free. Do I feel we need to pay a lot of money for these no! But I do think these would be a great donated device for all blind individuals.
@craigslater65085 жыл бұрын
I am also an Orcam user and have found it extremely useful. I don't know if you are aware that as well as reading text by pointing or tapping the touch bar, you can also place your finger just above a line of text and keep it still until the device starts reading and then you can move your finger down the text and the device will follow your finger. This is called touch reading. I find it useful to find where text is on product packaging as I am totally blind and the Orcam will tell you if you are touching a blank area or not. some people also use the touch reading feature for reading newspapers but I imagine you would need to have some sight to do it accurately as you would need to be able to see where the text is.

Vincent Grasso My Visually Impaired Life I have heard of a device called the ORCam MyMe which is to help people track their work life balance. I have come across a talk on KZbin where they talked about it. I believe it is for business people. I can't see the point of it and I don't think it is going to be as helpful or successful as the MyEye or the MyReader devices as they serve a very important purpose. I am looking forward to seeing what else they enable our OrCams to do. I was told by an OrCam trainer that they are going to enable the device to identify stairs, doorways and windows as well as find bus stops and toilet signs. I have also heard that they will be giving us the ability to tell the device to find particular information by asking it using the voice commands feature.
@myvisuallyimpairedlife56745 жыл бұрын
@@craigslater6508 thank you so much for this info. Well, I had a feeling it would track objects and do GPS eventually with an upgraded device. I could totally envision the or cam telling you street to street where to go. For all we know the 2.0 could have a GPS chip. If that was the case I'd be a little worried. Lol just kidding. One of my favorite features about this device is the fact that nobody is constantly tracking where I am or what I say etc. Not that I have anything to hide it's just the thought. I really truly appreciate you getting back to me though with this information. I have not found anything on the web so hearing this makes me feel a little bit closer to answers. May you have a blessed Thanksgiving and enjoy it to the fullest.

I think it has both. Read this in the discreption the same time. The USB-C port cannot charge other devices. Versatile Recharging: With both a USB-C and Micro USB input port, you have more options over how you recharge. Recharging PowerCore with a 10W charger will take approximately 10.5 hours, while recharging with a 5W charger will take approximately 20 hours.

Hello is there any function or other device that can read with AI. For instance if I am looking at the menu and only want to read desserts. Or read items but not prices. Or scan headlines etc. or go to the sports section or read the score of the Kansas game
@myvisuallyimpairedlife5674 Жыл бұрын
Hello and thanks for your question and I'll try to do the best I can to answer it for you. To start, I want to say that my orcam device has not had updates in the last couple years. So if there's any new functions that can do all the things you're asking, I apologize cuz I would not know. However, As it sits today my orcam can read individual sentences, I can even stop and rewind word by word to get to the points I want and start over again. Again. I know that if I was in front of a menu I can find the dessert section and just read that all alone and not everything else with it. But is it a perfect science? No, it takes practice with the orcam. And it is not without its blemishes at times. When it comes to other applications, all I can tell you is what I know from personal experience. I own a pixel 6 pro phone but most pixels are all the same and have amazing software features. Like when I open my camera I can use what's called Google lens to read my documents. I will say though I've only ever read them from top to bottom so I don't know for fact, however, I am sure the app would register finger touch for individual line reading. But you would have to try for yourself to find out. And the good news is, even if you don't own a pixel phone, you can still install Google lens on your phone if you have an Android device. I know there is many other applications on iOS, Apple and Android that is made to do this stuff but I do not use that at all so I could not help you there. I also tend to cheat a lot because my wife will do the lot of reading for me. Lol. Old habits die hard. I hope my comment reply has been sufficient enough for you. And don't forget to watch my other or cam videos where I demonstrate the device. Maybe your answers in those. Have yourself a wonderful day and I'm here for you if you have further questions down the road. God bless

Hey man, great videos ! So I ordered the fanny pack from Amazon. I want to order the battery pack also. Can you send me the link for that. I didnt know if it had to be a particular one or not. THanks........Joe
@myvisuallyimpairedlife56743 жыл бұрын
I'm excited for you my friend, nice to see you on your path to your new device. When I purchased the battery pack I bought it straight from Walmart. Pretty sure it was $8.88 at the time I've purchased it if I remember correctly. But you should be able to use any battery pack that's at least 5 volts 2.4 amps or greater. The one I own is made by ONN and it is 5 volts 2.0 amps 2.4 amps max output. That was enough battery power to make the device last up to 8 hours. My battery pack is now almost couple years old so I'm sure there's greater and cheaper battery packs out there now. I have faith you'll find a good battery just don't buy the one that or cam offers. Way overpriced they will try to sell you a battery pack. And I'm pretty sure theirs was even weaker than the one I bought. Lastly, thank you so much for liking the content. Times got crazy so I have not been uploading as much as I used to. But I will have more content starting in September. Daughter will be in school and I will hopefully have more times on my hands. God bless and good luck with your new device. And you will enjoy that fanny pack I love mine haven't even broke a zipper yet.

Z hi Vinnie, once again this was an excellent tutorial video explaining not only the features, but how to activate the features. This is a really cool device and I would really like it if it had more of an accurate color reading channel. It doesn’t seem like it will take long to get a custom to how far away the item needs to be or where you need to place each item for the Orkan to see it. But, I am not about to go to anyone else’s channel to learn the rest of this tutorial. Why should I do that when I have you, Vincent Grasso, teaching me like a professor! LOL you truly are and excellent explained are of technical devices. I will be eagerly looking forward to your next section on this lesson for The or cam. Seeing A I is a lot faster without having me to point or search for the barcode for it to be scanned. All I have to do is twist the bottle or turn the package until it finds it on its own. One thing I would like for you to do is to read the ingredients on packages and products as far as food is concerned because the front labels on those packages are not always accurate as to what it really contains inside.
@myvisuallyimpairedlife56743 жыл бұрын
Well perhaps down the road I will definitely do a video reading the ingredients for you. But I do know that Sam from a channel called The blind Life has done it in the past. He actually took the orcam to an actual grocery store and displayed and tried out the unit. Also, I should add that the orcam also does not need to be pointed at if not wanted. You can set the device so that it automatically reads barcodes. The only reason I turn this feature off is due to the fact that it's to conserve battery. And sometimes it'll randomly just go off while at a store just turning your head from left to right depending how close to an object you might get. I have played with seeing AI in the past and it is a great app however, the ease of use with our cam is far superior. Something about being hands-free makes a big difference. Allows me to feel a little bit of normalcy in my day. It's also a lot of the other features that the device has like being able to be somewhere and a random stranger will come up to you and if added to the system it'll tell you in your ear who it is definitely makes life a little bit easier being blind. but who knows maybe seeing AI will have an option for this eventually. At least it wasn't there when I was using it. But at the end of the day I could only suggest you go with what is more affordable and convenient for you. I don't necessarily condone spending thousands of dollars for device but my opinions on how this device works is the difference. I think it's worth the money but I was able to get my unit for free and I know others that have as well. Nothing is ever out of our reach. If I have to look at it in the perspective how much money is in my wallet I would have stuck to seeing AI. Lol Thank you so much for your comment, I will taking consideration making that video for you, and have yourself a blessed rest of your day

Nice to see you're on the move, getting everything you need. However, I don't want you to get upset but I don't think you purchased the right power bank. The power bank you listed sounds to me to be more than powerful enough to run the or cam. If a power bank can charge a phone it's good enough for the orc cam in my opinion. Now for the bad, not sure if you know this, but there is a difference between USB-C and USB input jacks. From what I could hear from your description the power bank has a USB-C only. The orcam device comes with a USB charging cable so the power bank would have to have a USB input jack. When we talked last I assumed you already had the or cam. But no worries my friend, if for some odd reason this power bank is on its way and you can't return it right away or cancel the order you have alternatives. I am not telling you to spend more money. I don't want you to spend any money but, you can purchase a USB female to USB-C adapter. They sell them all day long on Amazon for under $10. That is just a helpful piece of advice I can give you about this power bank. But, if you are able to cancel the order or return it you can always just get one that has a USB-C jack installed on the power bank. I'll leave it up to you to make the decision. I'm always willing to help and I hope my advice is doing just that. I'm always here to answer your questions my friend. I also hope that after you have the orc cam for a period of time you reconnect with me and let me know how you're loving it or if you're hating it.

One more thing, I'm assuming you have the version 2.0. if you purchase the version newer than that it could actually have a USB-C cable. However this information I do not know. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
