Rest in peace, Bedford. You were a rare and dear gift to us since 1970 and Shooting at the Moon.

not only great music and interpretation but also great TV coverage within the technical limits of the time - the use of defocused "shimmering" strings as a bed to match the orchestration - and multi layered coverage to add focus to the solos.

I first heard this as a live performance back in the day. I have been an avid fan of Mike scince. I was especially glad to have the opportunity to hear this version on KZbin. I have an original copy of this track on vinyl. It has never been played and is still in its original packaging. Now that I have heard this track here. The packaging can remain intact.

Yes, Mike Oldfield wrote an amazing song, but we would never know it if William Friedkin hadn't chosen the song. Thank you William Friedkin for being such a good chooser of music.

Clumsy orchestration!!! dont get that at all....... This is an amazing piece of work, with the strings in particular, Sublime

+Fyodor48 I know your comment is 2 years-old but I would like to comment, you don't get to play the Royal Albert Hall if you are clumsy.

@@moorek1967 Of course you do. Not all of them are top performances, there are dud days, like in any professional world class field. Its just another day's work in a very busy, very time demanding schedule, and they are humans after all.

Such a clumsy orchestration at times, and the orchestra's LP recording seems pretty well unrehearsed, but still it's a landmark in my young development as a music listener and I still love it. Thanks for posting this. It feels like this might be the source of that recording, but it feels also that some parts of this performance were edited out of the LP version...

Well try to orchestrated better and see if you have as much talent as David Bedford...until that shut up and play your partition...the whole world is waiting to see what you'v got

@@MrDanielphenix Wow. I bet you're the same bellend that screams at the referee in the TV for not doing his job properly. ahahaha. Such amazing ignorance about what constitutes opinion nowadays. Also, try to formulate an argument better than first grade emotional blackmail and insults, until then shut up and think a bit. The world doesn't owe you respect if you don't respect others.

The live performance and the LP recording are two different things, and the LP was recorded after the concert, and some of the arrangements have been changed, according to the liner notes of the original Japanese edition record.
