DTSP stands for a Doritaenopsis. A moth orchid hybrid, a cross between a Phal and a Doritis orchid.

I love your channel. My favorite are the nursery tours. But I also like the monthly blooms updates. I, too, have the mini Phalaenopsis you are showing at 14:13 of your video. That is Phal. Younghome Fragrance Lover (Younghome Little Spirit x Younghome Lucky Star). I think yours has been mislabeled, because Harck Gentleman is a regular size Phal, not a mini. Dtsp. stands for Doritaenopsis, which is a cross between Phaleanopsis and Doritis.

16:56 Is the Lucky Star a polychilos type (summer blooming sequential) like the bellina? Do you have any Zygopediliums or Encyclias? I live in CT so I'm looking to get my first cool growing orchids from J&L for my birthday next month. I found out from MOG that the Encyclia vitellina is a cool growing orchid from Mexico that has orange stems and flowers.

I’m trying to stand clear of cool growing orchids. They are too challenging to grow in my conditions. My temp is 75-80 during the day and 63-65 degrees at night. Only certain masdevallias are surviving well in my care. I would consider intermediate growers as they’re more forgiving. Unfortunately, I don’t have any encyclia or zygo in my collection, but I have heard zygos are challenging.

My Lucky Star has not stopped blooming since July and it just sent two more spikes. I’m not sure it’ll ever stop! Haha

@@OrchidsByBryan Most species get better with age. I heard from MOG that with the hybrid phals with so many blooms that it is "unnatural" and should be removed before summer so they can grow vegetatively, but then there's the schilleriana species. Maybe that's where they get it from?

@@OrchidsByBryan My grow space right now during winter is just a western facing window sill that is in the 60s all day and about 50% humidity. In the summer I can have my orchids in an enclosed western facing porch. I had my first cattleyas in there and they didn't mind the heat at all. Having measured the temperature in there yet though. It must be very humid.
