This is my new favorite band. I can't fucking wait to see them live! I hope they tour soon!

Been diggin on Orchid for a llooong time...these dudes are ridiculously stupid NASTY. I've always loved their "raw, garage, plugged straight into the amp" type of sound."

sad to see that this was they last EP and seems that they don't make music anymore, at least we have some good albums to hear!

@@surdopbuxixo oh crap (that's my thumbs down because I wasn't aware they were hangin it up. Not something I wanted to find out), they're one of my favorite bands. Guess my day just took a nosedive. Damn shame they never really blew up big-time...they were friggin badass and certainly deserving of such. No hard feelings directed your way either (no sense in killing the messenger). But, SHT that sucks bad. I got a few friends, my daughter, and her boyfriend, who won't like hearing that at all. Personally, to me anyway, I always considered (rather tongue in cheek) Orchid to be the "second coming of early Black Sabbath." That's what I'd tell people anyway if they hadn't actually heard Orchid before. Matter of fact, the first time I ever heard em, I thought that's who it was and accused a friend of mine of "blasphemy" for hiding some kinda old bootleg copy of some Sabbath stuff I'd never heard. Damnit...bad news is bad news, no matter how it comes. I'll be raising a shot (or ten) of some good old "Apple Pie" Mountain Dew out of the four quart jars I came across a little while ago. Now, I have a legit excuse to imbibe in a little 'shine tonight...not that I ever need one...just sayin. Thanks for passing along the info bro...truly a sad day. I'll have a "horn" or two for yourself as well (possibly a bit of the "combustible botanicals" too...I mean, why the hell not right?). Stay safe from the Covid sht dude. I'll keep a good thought for yourself and family...

Strange Minds is on par with 'Planet Caravan', and its like Black Sabbath tried to write The End by the Doors, best track of the EP. 2nd is Sign of the Witch. John the Tiger is interesting, not sure how I feel about Helicopters. That song feels like Jethro Tull auditioned for Black Sabbath against Dio, and was trying to compete with Dio for the gig, lol.

Reminds me of Black Sabbath - Tomorrows Dream.

Just bought this EP on blue vinyl without listening to them first. The singer is a interesting combination of Dio and Jethro Tull, and the instruments are tuned to Sabbath near perfectly. I can appreciate the dedication for them to sound like Sabbath, but at the same time, kind of disappointed because it was a bit too much of a homage.

Sounds too much like Sabbath. Like they’re reworking sabbath riffs.

Sounding too much like Sabbath is not a bad thing imho! I grew up with Sabbath back in the early 70s and am in no way offended that their sound copies them. There is far too much other music out there that does not riff like this. These guys are outliers that will never get rich or famous but who make real heavy metal music for old farts like me who remember how great this sounded back in the day.

this is such a rip off of war pigs it hurts
@russellmcgurn42174 жыл бұрын
Not a “rip off” as much as an Homage to their self proclaimed idols. Get a clue Noob.

Russell Mcgurn Sleep were able to pay homage to sounding like Black Sabbath without straight ripping them off. This is what I hate about stoner music. There are like 10 good bands and the rest are so uncreative and boring. Thanks for ur input n00b (btw 2002 wants their insult back)
