I joined the neighborhood flood watch crew and took shifts cleaning out the tiny storm drains, diverted the river coming down our street to avoid it entering the community, and house, again. So, I was super busy, drenched to the bone and well... am now exhausted! As per the forecast, we are past the rain for a week that I can see 🙏🏼 2 major events in as many weeks, that is too much for us. I really really hope that the dams got plenty as well, because seeing all that water 'go to waist /waste' was real shame. Jokes aside, I am ready for bed and to stay there for a week! 😬 done DONE! Nina.I succeeded in mounting cattleyas on treated guava trunks and dendrobium leafless canes on 3 inch PVC poles erected on stands by tying 80 per cent garden nets to the poles and again tying the canes tightly to the poles by pieces of garden nets again.For 6 months mother nature will take care of these mounts Nina.

Even some of my minis that are mounted get extra misting even with the humidity barely changing, it averages 75% to 85% the majority of the time but during summer it can drop another 5% Hope you're having a relaxing weekend and are high and somewhat dry. 🌸🥷🏼Bob San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🥰💐 good evening from ⛈️🌊🚣🏻🌊 ⛈️ Spain! 🫣 I have ditched my flippers and snorkel for the foreseeable future, if the forecast is to be believed. I have webbed hands and feet now. 😬 It is going to take another 48 hrs for the power to be back in my home, so I am staying as patient as I can, after all that! 🤞🏼 As nice as it is to be able to grow orchids mounted, it really is a challenging thing to get it right for all seasons. My warm growing phal is in a tuber catch tray now for the winter because of how careful I have to be with watering. So, while it is fun during the summer, its not something I urge anyone to try unless they want to deal with the conditions and manage them all year round. So, what you are doing is working out beautifully for your orchids. It is clear to see with how amazing your 'chiddos look 😍 thank YOU so much for watching, 🌸🥷🏼Cariño San! During the summer, yes... things get a lot busier 😆 I appreciate your kind comment, lovely lady, thank you! I also appreciate you for the support on the channel, keeping it active while I am not able to post videos. Thank you so much for watching videos to help me out 🙏🏼 I am truly grateful! I am absolutely devastated by what has happened in the past week. I cannot get it out of my system and I think the trauma is going to take a while to recover from. I feel so helpless. While things were going down in my neighborhood, I was so busy with others keeping drains cleared, and helping divert water from entrances, getting supplies to homes where people could not leave etc etc... it was just go go go and we were working in shifts. Now? I feel like a zombie, I cannot get my head right to do what I need to. Filming atm is not possible because I 'have no words'. The adrenaline crash is real 😔 prayers go out to all affected much worse than we were, but they need speedy help and things are never moving fast enough. BeBe, hi 😍💐 the power came back this morning... well, let's say, I tried the fuse this morning and it held. I spent some time with my cell phone responding to comments yesterday. I just could not bring myself to wait another day in the hopes to have power. BUT, now I am sat at my desk again and can feel the relief on my eyes being able to typey type with a large screen in front of me! I am doing ok. Crazy busy trying to get things done... the videos are going to have to wait. I cannot procrastinate on what needs to be done here while the temperatures are holding up. So much to wash and get dry. But, I showered at home this morning 😆 so there is that! 😅 I was thinking of a video update, but I think I am going to cry if I start talking, so... I will wait and see how I feel later this week. Right now, the adrenaline crash and the fatigue are impeding me to think straight. I am more like a zombie going through the motions and when I sit and have a coffee, I find myself staring into space with no thoughts at all. The first Aftermath video ... I struggled doing that, and I don't want a video out that has me faking 'courage' and fighting tears. There are so many worse off than I am I would feel guilty if I were to express exactly what I am going through. Update from my growing room... I'm doing better, still not up to par but better. We have definitely come into autumn, so I'm trying to adapt to the new temperatures. One day it was sunny 97f and the next was 77f and raining. The presidential election is tomorrow, Tuesday, ending 7pm pdt. So it might be Wednesday before they call the winner. Of course every single vote won't be counted for a few more weeks and I'm sure there will be law suits contesting the whole thing. Very stressful time for me right now... just trying to hold onto my faith that every thing will turn out as it meant. 🤞 I've had my mini phal 24 weeks now... Well, she dropped her last mature leaf on Wednesday. So she just has baby leaf #1 (which has grown so much... It's now 4.5 cm since it appeared on August 2nd) and baby leaf #2 which is growing like a weed too! It's 5mm in a week! But I'm not surprised since it just absorbed 2 mature leaves. Friday I noticed baby leaf #1 had a couple of dehydration wrinkles 😲. It's my fault. Since I put her in river rock, her roots stay green, so instead of listening to my intuition (knowing how thirsty she was bare rooted), I didn't water her for a two days but that little voice kept nagging me, so even though her roots and stem are green I gave her a good soak with the diluted black tea water. And I'm learning that even though she's thirsty, she doesn't like the rocks too close to her stem. She likes her roots covered, but not her stem. The node on the base of the green stem has not changed this week. It's the same size and the same color. So we'll see what happens there. My instincts are telling me she's not going to make it, but I believe she's still under warranty, so I can get a replacement. But I'm hoping she survives as everyone says phals can be tenacious... 24 weeks, I think is pretty tenacious to put up with our summer heat and super dry air conditioned air! I have the heater on now... Set to 74f it's only been coming on early in the morning as the temperatures at night have dropped from the 80s down to the 40s. I'll keep giving her TLC (tender, loving care) as long as she's still fighting. She'll get me trained yet! It is so kind of you to ask about me, with all of the challenges that you are facing... EDIT: It's later in the day on Monday and she's been soaked for a couple of hours in her tea and magnesium solution, so I pulled off the bottom sheaths of mature leaf #1 and there's another node... Node #1 isn't as green as this new Node #2, hopefully she'll abandon them both, but we'll see, I never know what she's going to do. 💕🌞🌵😷

I really cannot speak on the ongoings in the US, seeing as I have isolated myself almost completely from what happens in the world. 🫣 I know the basics, just to stay informed, but there once was a time when I used to be so invested and stayed up all night watching the incoming results, county by county, state by state, electoral votes etc. I also have no real idea who is who in Spain anymore, because for the likes of me, nothing ever changes. 😔 I have had hopes dashed one too many times, so... I shall be picking the left side off shortly, as much of it as I can. I am studying it every day to see where to start, and how the structure is going to pop loose if I don't get the right areas off. One day I shall take my stepping stool and snip away carefully. Also, I am waiting for some roots to do their thing and die off (remember the cycle of brassavola roots... some are 3 years old and will fail naturally 😆) so I am waiting to see the ones I am eyeing up, to die back and then hopefully I do not cut into a section that makes other roots pop off. Its going to be a doozy, and one that I cannot film. I am going to be nervous enough as is, so maybe not showing shaky hands will work in my favor. I don't want to fall of the stool if something doesn't go according to plan 🫣😅

I really like your Dendrobium exile. I've never seen one before and I love her spidery growth habit and cute little blooms. Does it go bare cane or is it difficult to grow?? I want to get that one. But I can do some research. Try a black sheet for instances of camera focus. Or dark gray and matte.

I got the exile for it's uniqueness! Now that we have the sun out, the blooming alley is filled with the rich thick honeysuckle fragrance of these tiny blooms. Its amazing. Definitely one to keep an eye out for, because once established, it does bloom several times within a 12 month period 👍🏼 I had a black sheet to try out, and it looked a horrible grey or ick color when I tried it. I can't do the photography indoors because it shows too much of private things, and outside, it is hard with the lighting. It was an attempt and an epic fail 😆

you know, I know this is a YT thing that creators have no control over, but ads have been getting longer and longer. Now they are making some of these long ads non-skippable. Like do they not think that making a 10 minute ad non-skippable isn't going to hurt creators because people are just going to stop watching the video rather than be forced to watch a 10 minute ad? I let them play and came back, but it is seriously annoying. I think they are doing it to force people to pay for the monthly YT subscription. Good luck with that business model because it isn't going to work. The orchids look pretty good. I mean, you can't control them getting scorched from a hot dry wind, but everyone but the cernua seems to be recovering. I am sending love to the Podangis. It looks Ok right now, I guess we will see what the next couple of months bring.

@@lindaannb not just bizarre, but total scams in some cases. I've been getting the longer ads for a while, today was the first time they weren't skippable.

Don Miguel 🥰💐 hola jefe! First of all, let me thank you so much for putting up with these longer ads! I have them as well, and support the videos I watch by doing the same, walk away or take my headphones and do stuff, until they are done and I hear the creator back talking. I think that you are right about YT doing it to entice people to sign on to their premium higher tier, so as to avoid these lengthy ads. Even when I could afford premium, back in the day, I did not sign up for it, because I wanted the channels to get the full support and not the pennies that come through the premium watch time. Premium viewers and the payment that comes from them are a fraction of a fraction of what we would earn when ads are watched. YT has implemented a second higher premium tier that is apparently close to double that of what the initial premium single premium tier was. The single premium tier now will still show ads, but not as often and very selected. The higher tier is supposedly ad free. Also, it is leading up to Christmas, and during the months of October-November the ads are amped up. If my guess is right, by observing the dynamic over the years, then by January things will calm down again. That is when we will get a better idea if YT is making people opt for their higher premium tier. 🤷🏼‍♀️ time will tell. However, again, thank you so very very much for putting up with this inconvenience to help me out!
