I’ve been wearing nothing but Harlicks for 40 years and I wouldn’t consider wearing anything else. Ever. Seeing the fitting room again brought a tear to my eye. It looks exactly the same as the first time I walked in there in 1984. ❤️❤️❤️

That’s awesome! We just picked up our daughter’s new skates from A&G Skate Shop in SSF. They are amazing! So glad they are still serving the SF Bay Area. Best place to get your skates.

The elusive Harlick skating boot! I can tell this video was made a few years ago. Try to order a pair of custom Harlicks now and the wait time is over a year! I am a Harlick girl and nothing can compare. But, I couldn't wait that long and had to order custom boots from another company. So sad, because I have a hard foot to fit and Harlick has worked so well for me for so long.Miss you, Harlick!! 😭😭😭⛸️

Luv this information! I have one foot that has my second toe longer than the other so tough to get boots that doesn’t squish my toe, can’t find a matching half-size either for 2 separate pair. I will definitely check them out, thanks for sharing!

@ThriveDiaries so guess what?! One of my former coaches got me connected with a skate fitting professional who has worked with Olympians like Meryl Davis and world champion Kimmie Meisner, and more. He helped me assess my boot fit needs and foot pronation. What an honor to have someone like that assess my needs being such an amateur. He also refers people to Kimmie Meisners dad who is a rare podiatrist who understands a skater's foot needs. Pretty cool...

You are so pretty. I am a new figure skater and I’m probably going to take lessons in January! I am also skating more often in public rinks. I fell on my tailbone last time though. So I’m waiting for it to heal :) also this is so cool. If I get good at skating I gotta try this place out! Sorry, this comment probably doesn’t make sense. Lol.

Have you ever had SP Teri and can you make a comparison? With George SP Teri now retired and the business no longer in the family, I am considering switching to Harlick for my next custom boot. Thanks!

When were you there? When I went in 2018, the grandson was the only one there doing fittings and most of the work and the choices were nothing what they used to be or what you are showing. They were having to move to a place up the street for lower rent after being in the old location for a very long time. Times are tough.
@CoachJulia3 жыл бұрын
I purchased my pair in 2018. They did make a transition to a new location just after I went in for mine.

i've been watching your videos for a long time and i really want to start skating but the rink is really far away and i'm kind of scared to be in a class with younger kids since private lessons are pretty expensive. is it worth it?

I teach 10 group classes a week, and often have quite a range of ages. As long as you have a knowledgeable instructor, it shouldn’t matter who else is in the class. I say, just go for it! Maybe tho k about private lessons if you are really connecting with a particular coach and think they can help you reach specific goals.

Any lessons are DEFINATLEY worth it....if you can’t afford the private yet, do the learn to skate....don’t worry if you are older....I started at 48 and was in learn to skate for 15 months before going into private lessons.....skating is THE best feeling in the world....you won’t regret it. 💖💖

@CoachJulia5 жыл бұрын
Harlick makes skates for skaters all over the world! I could have had them ship them to me but I was so close, I thought I would like to try them on at the factory. They offer stock boots, and also have ways for you to do semi custom boots and mail in info for full custom.
@xenaer41355 жыл бұрын
ThriveDiaries so that means if i order them i can’t get a perfect size of my foot? thanks for responding btw 🤩

You are welcome! You can still get Custom, no matter where you live. The best thing is to go to the Harlick website and check out their infor for ordering custom skates.

Watching this video has helped me appreciate the craftmanship of custom skates more. :) Although it's much more expensive than stock boots from other brands, I can totally see the value from it (speaking from experience of being incorrectly fitted multiple times for stock boot)

Missing that 8 week wait. It’s now over a year.
@CoachJulia2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, after Covid they are having to train a whole new crew. Add to the equation that they have become so much more sought after- the wait times have gotten pretty long. It’s unfortunate.

about how much $
@CoachJulia3 жыл бұрын
If you go on the Harlick website you can see a base price for their custom boots and then how much all of the upgrades are. If you choose to invest in Harlick boots, be sure to let them know that Coach Julia Durkee sent you, I have a good relationship with them and they will treat you very well.
@flyingcat20544 жыл бұрын
They must have gave you those boots free for doing an AD for them. I had a coach that had a so called custom boot from every boot maker at some point and she said none of them were really custom, and that they were just stock boots, and forbade me to buy a custom! I make my own boots now, since I can’t skate in ~2” heels or pointed toe boxes- the classical 19th century boot style! Last I spoke to someone at Harlick they cannot do anything in a lower heel, so I won’t even bother with their customs.
@CoachJulia4 жыл бұрын
I actually paid for these myself, Harlick does not do sponsored boots like that. They have no need of false promotion like that, as they are one of the best boot makers out there, and have been for decades. I made this video simply because I truly love the fully custom skates that they made for me and wanted to share the love.
@flyingcat20544 жыл бұрын
@@CoachJulia my nearby roller rink will not carry Harlick boots anymore since the last custom a customer ordered came back with no counters in the heels, a $1500 order too! (as well as other reasons like they do not have as good sales support to retailers as other boot makers). Harlick cannot change their ways from the 19th century design and make a lower heel so I don’t see any custom option for my liking! It’s all a matter of opinion as far as Harlick being one of the best boot makers.
@MobiusMinded Жыл бұрын
There not only isn’t a better boot than a custom pair of Harlicks… no one else comes clothes. However, my experience is competition & Ice. Maybe something with rollers makes it different. Known a lot of Olympic medalists… the vast majority were Harlicks.
