The play tells the story of a princess in Kuizhou City who meets an ignorant young wolf boy who grew up among wolves. However, to save the cub, the wolf boy was mistaken for the murderer of the important minister and was ruthlessly hunted. Although Zhai Xing found out the truth and cleared Wolf Boy's grievances, her brother Ma Jun obstructed her, causing Wolf Boy to mistakenly believe that Zhai Xing had betrayed him. Wolf Boy was therefore disheartened and eventually fell off a cliff and disappeared. Whereabouts unknown. Later, the wolf cub was secretly adopted as his son by Chu Kui who was passing by here. The two met again after an absence of eight years, and started a series of twists and turns of stories surrounding their previous misunderstandings.
