I wish I could have seen how you detach the bag holder. I accidentally ran my vac a few months without a bag inside and need to get it off to clean it better.

My grandma had the same oreck intellsheild! I loved that vacuum but the motor burned out after something got jammed in the fan.

I've always found Orecks so fascinating. I think they're percieved by you guys (Americans) in the same way Henrys are over here; cheap but robust vacuums that will do good enough
@xXaspie62Xx Жыл бұрын
I want to agree with that sentiment but unfortunately when they’re new they are not cheap. They have models that are $700

The Oreck discovery there top model right now is $560

I’ve always liked Orecks. They are lightweight and just so easy to use. They don’t work on hard floors, no matter what Oreck say. And they are really expensive for what they are. And they do need somewhat regular maintenance, especially for the felt gasket around the fan. But I find them to be decent vacuums. As with Kirby’s I would just buy a used one and clean it and tune it up. Get an XL21 over an XL2 as they are quieter. If it was between a Kirby or Oreck for a direct air cleaner I’d pick an Oreck as they are just so much lighter. And get a cheap bagged canister for hard and above floors.

Orecks are not good on hard floors? Thanks, you saved me, my house is all hard floor

the zip tie fix for the brushroll wobble is a real thing. The only other way would be to replace the whole top cover assembly. At least the top cover didn't crack/fail. This machine is probably 15 yrs old

Thanks for yet another great video. I have a several Orecks. Original one was the first vac I ever owned still have. A couple of them were salvaged and resurrected - good to be loaned out or gifted to friends in need. I love their power and weight, and their relative simplicity. They are quite loud (particularly once you've used something like a Miele). And the bags hold a lot. Thanks for the tip on the purple synthetic. Need to try those. I have done some service on them myself. This video is helpful and informative. You are right about the variations - particularly on wiring. I wanted to convert a foot switch model to a hand switch - I completely completely gave up. As I mostly use (a variety of) Miele vacs, I tend to use the Orecks now only on occasionally and for certain applications. But I cannot seem to part with these lightweight and reliable workhorses.

I love Orecks! Currently, I have an Oreck XL21 that I got last year, it's still going strong! I do like Orecks, they are simple, yet not bad lightweight vacuum cleaners. Awesome job!

I love the XL-21 as well.

Still have mine on my first floor but I will need to toss it when the current brushroll wears out because Oreck doesn’t make soft brushrolls anymore. I moved my Sebo G4 upstairs because of the hose being mounted on top of the bag canister and I have a lot of glass in my living room so I bought an R25 for the first floor rugs.
@PerformanceReviews Жыл бұрын
That's interesting to hear you don't like their current generation of brush roller which is pretty soft but not as soft as that white one.
@LlyleHunter Жыл бұрын
I was only aware of the red brush which was too firm but the machine is still ok for use as an electric broom in my kitchen and sometimes in the hallway until it runs out.

Please advice my UK30205PC model keeps shutting off automatically when turning on. We replaced the belt and the brush and looked for clogged issues and & still not working 😢

Bring it to your local Oreck dealer
@dennismoore11167 ай бұрын
Some models had a steel ball bearing embedded in the roller. This activated a magnet switch so the vacuum knew the brush was turning. It shuts off after 3 seconds if this is not there. Possible your old brush had this and the new one doesn't. Not all Oreck's have that feature. Most replacement brushes don't.

I have one that won't stay upright it falls back. Is that a clip i can bend tight again or do I need to get a part? What is the part called? Also I see these on eBay new but shipping from Asia are they knock off version and wonder if they are made for 120v or 220v.

Can anyone tell me the size of the thrust washer for the fan? It sits between the lock washer and nut on the fan. Lost the one that was on there. Also, where does the felt washer go? Is it inside the fan housing between the fan and the metal firewall or on the other side of the metal firewall next to motor? Thank you for any info you can provide!

Just buy a fan kit and all will be included including a diagram

Is there a way to modify an oreck to add a vac hose?

No. Just buy a Titan T1400 or Miele C1 to accommodate it.
