I live just off usfs road 4601. Since the OBDR was published the amount of traffic has increased dramatically along with dust. It is good to see people in the out of doors, but hard to live with the extra dust from fast moving rigs.

Maybe it was because we went later in the summer (and fires), but we hardly saw anyone out there. Was nice especially on some of those shelf roads to not encounter anyone coming the opposite direction.

Nice another guy with a Ram, you got to love these trucks. One of my close friends lives in Bend says there is lots of fires there. Very suspicious all these forest fires over the last 7 years. 👍

Definitely a lot of fires these past few years. The larger ones farther east in Cow Valley right now appear to be arson. Several fires all started along the same stretch of road on the same night.

Nice video! Was there any section that you had trouble because of the size of the rig? Anywhere you didn’t fit or was scary with large vehicle (ie: shelf road too narrow, etc)? Also, do you usually do the easier or the harder routes on the BDR with the PW? Finally, did you do any other BDR than the OR? Thanks!

Thanks for the comment! The truck fit fine along the entire route, just the normal pinstripes that your going to get from all the brush. The last sections of shelf roads get a little narrow but nothing concerning as long as you take your time. Typically we will do the harder/non-alternate bypass routes. We did the WA BDR last year.

Thank you for the reply. I am considering buying a PW. Is there any reason you regret going with the PW over any other brand of HD or RAM models or RAM HD trims? Or not getting a smaller truck (non-HD full size or even smaller midsize) for adventure/off-road travel? I am specifically interested in your experience with the PW for off-road travel. I am aware of the compromises for work (payload limitations, and reduced towing capacity) or daily driving (size to park, etc). Finally any regrets for getting a Rambox truck? Beyond the fact that there seems to be zero hard topper available in the USA for Rambox trucks. Would you buy the PW again FOR OFF-ROAD/ADVENTURE travel and would you buy the Rambox version of the truck again? Thanks! Appreciate your advice!

@@is6566 This truck is my daily driver. I wanted a full size truck to use for other things (not off-road related) with weekend adventure capabilities. If I was just looking for something that was going to be primarily used for off-road use then yes I probably would get something smaller (and cheaper/used). I went with the PW since it came with off-road capabilities (slightly better suspension, lockers, winch, etc. (covered by factory warranty)) vs buying a truck w/o them and having to spend time to add them on. If you plan to have any type of camper, alucab, bed topper, etc. then do not get Ramboxes since you would not be able to use them. I like having quick access to stuff w/o having to get into the bed of the truck. My auxiliary 12V system is in my driver side Rambox so when I need to use it I just pop that open and all my AC outlets, USB ports, switches, etc are all right there without needing to get into the bed of the truck which is the idea I had in my head prior to buying the truck w/ Ramboxes so that was one reason I got them. This is really one of those topics where everyone has to weigh their own needs and uses. There are so many individual variables.
