There was a need for a law like this for large scale feed operations because some were letting all the waste wash out into waterways which become poisoned by bacterial blooms. The problem here is that they made the wording of the law way too vague regarding scale and nature of operations. This allows the industrial dairy companies to use the same law that rightfully slapped them for their polution to bully small competitors. Probably hoping they can grab land. You guys need to form a lobbying group to advocate for small farm exeptions or requirenents that scale to farm size and aren't an unreasonable burden. A small farm should be able to just plant a small permaculture buffer zone along where water runs off to prevent manure run off. That would be effective on small scale and more afordable than whatever elaborate infrastructure industrial scale requires.

They don't want small business. About 25 years ago I graduated Penn state for Electrical engineering. Back then we didn't have cheap junk that gets tossed in landfills. I had a small business straight out of college. Within 2 years I was making $1500/ day repairing electronics. Then they gave it all to China and put every single one of us out of business. So they invested in raw materials, minerals and the manufacturing to enrich themselves and China. (At the detriment of Americans) They tried the global warming/ solar panel, battery thing back then too but people were smart enough to kno there's no way we'd power the country with them. (Even without EV's. Not even close)But now: they're doing the same thing with better results. It's all about their investments and keeping them enriched without working, tossing the scraps to us (you too can install solar panels for a meager wage). Ever notice how those led light bulbs don't last as long as the old incandescents? (They should last a lifetime). Those solar panels aren't going to last near as long as people think either. In 10-15 years there will be thousands of acres of junk panels and because recycling won't be profitable the govt will subsidize it and we can pay for that too. Oh, and the "renewable " part comes when they're being replaced, the elite pushing this will renew their bank accounts. It's all the same thing. They need to manage and control "their" people at every level. This crap has infuriated me for 20+ years! (To put it mildly). When people have had enough, there will be NO MERCY for them. I am sick to death of being OWNED by them!

I don't claim to know the motivations our politicians but western governments are becoming more sinister and authoritarian. Up until the late 80's a family with only one parent working could afford a car and they could afford to buy a house on the average industrial wage whereas now the wealthy have drained so much of the wealth from our countries that with both parents working families now struggle to provide the things that the previous generation could take for granted. There is only so much money in the world and when the few have assets that dwarf the GDP of some countries the other 99.9% have little left to go around, capitalism has been bastardised to become socialism for the rich. I think governments have forecasted that there will be unrest when people realise that the crumbs from the table will no longer sustain us so maybe this authoritarianism is to preempt a scenario like this. If we are sufficiently demoralised and weakened by the struggle to feed and house our families we might be too absorbed fighting for the crumbs that we forget about the lush buffet above us.

Sadly the people who are meant to represent us in government are not able to by shares and invest in small private businesses. So if they actually supported their people as they are meant to there is no financial gain for them. Hence why they help corporations save costs and want them to grow by targeting the small businesses by making false narratives to obtain this as they affect small business. In Australia they have done the same thing many times before by reducing water allocations of farmers. Though big corporations who have cotton fields up river in arid regions take as much water as they want that is not even metered or paid for. This limits the water for farmers downstream to the point that the Darling river (2nd longest river in Aus) Completely Stopped flowing for the majority of the river that obviously had huge impacts on the environment and all the animals that depend on it for survival. So many fish, kangaroos and other native wildlife perished and it forced small farms that have been in families for generations to be sold of due to the lack of productivity and the increased cost associated with production costs. It’s time for these people in politics to finally get thrown out of office and a new fairer system needs for the vast majority of the people needs to be established. As for tax we all pay, where does it actually go and how does it benefit us? It doesn’t and it’s just a legalised system to extort the people to keep them down and unable to truly prosper.

I live in Quebec. Small farms are our culture. We get lots of new ones, specializing in just about any crop or livestock you can think of. I get fresh everything in winter now, because of all of the new growhouses that sprouted up. There are over 28,000 "farms' in my 8 million people province. We aren't run by lobbies, AND we pretty much make up our own laws on a lot of things, WITHOUT any federal say-so. Being in the EU might seem like a good financial, and organizational push, BUT it killed regional power and left it all in a centralized BUREAUCRATIC decision-making process. The BIG picture doesn't have anything to do with local economies and cultural history. I like diversification and small business. Huge conglomerates can and DO fail, and when it happens, there is NOTHING left. No redundancy, no safety valve, just an empty hole in that sector.

Limiting the power of government is the only viable solution, not voting in your team. We have an electoral college to prevent this. Going to local store chains is getting more boring with what is offered regarding what we stuff our stomachs with. The windows of real food is shrinking. "Options shrink" of sources we can buy from is at a record rate. Cellulose as an ingredient is the tip of the iceberg - the ready, start-go line, the turning point in which farmers have lost ground in the BIG FOOD FIGHT... Non Food as filler food replacement, (cellulose), has, established that non food is an accepted essential product by which to replace where a real food product was required... Unless sawdust has been found to support nutrition requirements, hense it's value as a source of food. The processes that any wood goes through, used in human consumption as in any cellulose consumption by humans for the purposes as, an additive in food... Should be investigated. Logs that are harvested to to mills. Termites are a natural predator of ALL wood products. Any treatments to wood during any process from the time the logs reach the mill to sales of said logs need to be INVESTIGATED, if the sawdust from said logs are used as an addititive in food consumption. Specifically products such as creasote in any concentration or any like product where sawdust for food additive (cellulose) might be harvested for any food injestion propose, or has gone through pesticide wash by any means, at any time for termite or any other bug deterrent process to protect the logs or wood products from said logs, during any process where Cellulose, pre-retreated in a logging mill sawdust is reclamed for "food production then consumption" for the purpose to feed the masses... Needs to be Investigated and given tests by which no harmful traces of any chemicals used to rid any and all logs during all processes of those logs and any product of those logs have gone though that would produce the sawdust in which any corporation would use said the bi-product, (cellulose), of the logging, manufacture of any logs used at any point where the sawdust would be collected. The bio-history of the sawdust and the journey by which the sawdust product traveled from the time the log trucks delivered the logs to the mills, needs to be traced for the sake of learning what risk to humans the sawdust might be to their health. Treated wood is just that. During the "life process" of harvested wood, preservation of the wood is paramount. It is taken seriously as, should sawdust as an additive to food now sold on shelves, no matter the, sought out function of its existence in food sold. I would venture to say that sawdust regulatory law for human consumption has far less science than what Oregonian’s are contending with now to save their farms... Just thinking...
