True...what but also realize Ohio State has the worst DC on the planet (see the rankings) ...and see the ZERO adjustments,and some bad players.. But it was a huge win for Oregon. I like Oregon and their fans. Maybe bc SC fans have been so annoying since joining the conference! it's gonna be a great game and I think these 2 teams will be tops for the foreseeable future in this conference. Yeah, that '21 OSU Defense was historically bad. Their Secondary was horrible in coverage and tackling. Their LBs didn't know their assignments because they were often running into each other. And the D-Line was created from a bunch of overrated undersized weaklings who got ragdolled against NFL caliber O-Linemen, like Michigans. That's why Michigan ran for 800+ yards on them while cheating. OSU's high school caliber DC was fired after the season and Ryan Day actually demoted him after that game because he realized he had no clue what he was doing because he was way over his head as a defensive play caller.

Ohio states DC was fired that 2021 for a reason. Mario gets a lot of credit for that. But that Ohio state defense was putrid.
@roris58825 ай бұрын
At least Ryan Day made excellent hires by firing the former defensive staff to bring a new one under Knowles. With all the returning talent, the defense is the strength of their program and it should be even better then last season. They just need to rotate their players more to create solid depth because it's going to be a long season, with a lot of attrition.
@drastik_M.C.5 ай бұрын
@@roris5882 absolutely. And outside of the most recent teams defense always has been there strength. But pertaining to that 2021 game.. they were all sorts of discombobulated. Acting like Mario went in there with AB and worked a miracle is a stretch. We ran the same counter trap play and BURNED them. All Im saying.

The O-Line has determined who wins in this matchup the last 3 times they played. In the championship game several years back, it was the Ohio State O line that took over and won the game. In the last match up between these teams, it was the Oregon O line that took over and Oregon ran all over them. Whoever has the better O line and can run the ball, will win this game this year.

I can see the whole picture now why he will not leave Oregon. This is the place he wants to win his first NATTY as a full time head coach, because he wants this program to win its first NATTY. It’s a good combination for him. He wasn’t thinking of a stepping stone job to reach the top. It’s not about the money. Now I know what he meant of greener grass at Oregon. Everyone knows the Ducks have a Top 5 program this season. It's just that they are playing an untraditional schedule across the country, against unfamiliar opponents. I think fans make too much of the B1G playing style, just because many of the former B1G West programs are 1 dementional due to not being able to throw the ball. Iowa has an amazing Defense and Special Teams but they still haven't discovered the forward pass.

With the expansion of the playoffs having a conference championship is a disadvantage to the teams that go. It’s 1 more game to have injuries against the other best team in that conference. Also it’s possible those two teams play each other again in the playoffs. We can play Ohio state 3* this year

Not sure the addition of Oregon to the Big 10 will create a "great rivalry" by default. When Penn State joined the Big 10 there was similar talk. For Ohio State, beating Penn State is a must, but in terms of "great rivalries", it still doesn't come anywhere close to the level of the OSU-Michigan game. Make no mistake...The Oregon game will be another "must win" game but it'll be Penn State big, not Michigan huge. Go Bucks!!
@Alana-t2o5 ай бұрын
In my opinion Oregon and Ohio St. Is not a rivalry game. Oregon State, Oregon is our rivalry. Should never change that.
@dariusp2576 ай бұрын
I would say that beating Washington 12 out of the last 15 years, I considered last year games against the Huskies as a game that you are suppose to win. You have won them the majority of the time in the last 15 years so I would class Washington as one of those games that Dan has to win. Its not a big game. Against Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Georgia, those are games that are toss ups but Washington, I would not consider that a toss up game. Yes, Washington was good last year but Oregon had a chance to win both of those games and did not execute when it needed to. I chalk that up to a game you are expected to win.

The “Big 10 Physicality” is so over hyped by this dork
@LivinTheDream-z1s5 ай бұрын
Let's see how Oregon does during a full season playing the likes of Michigan, OSU, Penn State, and watch out for Wisconsin. They will return to a really big, physical team now under Luke Fickell. Fickell has a ton of ties in Ohio and the Midwest. Oregon has not had to play a schedule with these type of teams. Outside of Washington, which Oregon lost to twice last year, will be interesting to how you feel in November???
@roris58825 ай бұрын
USC and Washington's Defenses were like Swiss cheese last season, so they couldn't hold up against better competition. Oregon's Secondary got torched twice by Penix.

Ohio State should have gone after Cam Ward. (I'm glad they didn't add a Duck fan... Really glad.) I like Dillian Gabriel in Will Stein's offense way, way more than I like Will Howard for Ohio State. It's very hard to take the crowd out of the game at Autzen. I'm curious about the toughness mentality... Looking at the spring games Oregon played physical.. that was football. Ohio State played mostly touch football.
@brian_abn5 ай бұрын
the Buckeyes will be playing 16 games next season, no shame in saving some wear and tear on the starters in the spring game. the jury is still out on Howard, but i will say he is the type of qb that can succeed in Chip Kelly's offense. having a qb that is a threat to run the ball, is something that's been missing since Justin Fields left. along with the best rb duo in the country, a running qb will keep teams from double teaming Ohio State's future first round nfl receivers.

lifelong Buckeye fan here. nothing but respect for oregon, but they'll never be a rival for Ohio State. there is only one rival, and it's those cheaters up north. oregon would probably fall into the penn state category. every game against the nits is a big game. it's a game that fires you up, but it pales in comparison to the game against cheatagain. it would be the same for the ducks. a big game whenever they're on the schedule, but it still won't rise to the level of the game against the skunk weasels. going to try and get to eugene for the game. don't give cheatagain too much credit for the last 3 seasons. without his cheating scheme and the 2020 cancellation, hairball would've been fired a few years ago.

@brian_abn5 ай бұрын
@@ES2990 hairball was the head coach for 6 1/2 of the 7 days each week of his suspensions. and cheatagain's cheating played a role. the coaching staff had to take time away from game prep to develop new signals, and then the players had to learn those new signals. cheatagain spent 100% of their time prepping for Ohio State, while the Buckeyes were devoting some of their time developing and learning new signals.
