Too much operator fatigue using a wheel for pay loaders. Imagine whipping that wheel around back and forth several rotations each way for every bucket for 12hrs. I know people do it and have done it, but it just don’t make sense, nor makes a better operator.

We don't have any 990s but we have pretty much everything on either side of them, and that's some odd noise coming from the drive line, ours makes this same sound when the transmission pumps are going bad, caterpillar told us when loading like this set the throttle around 1200-1500rpm and just use the declutch on the left side to change direction. It's rough and jerky starting our, but once you get the pedal and the knob on the ceiling to the operators left dialed in together it's a whole different animal. And the fuel economy changes drastically. All that throttle up and down is wasted fuel where a constant 1500rpm is better on fuel than 600-1900-900-1700-750-1200 and so on.
