Thanks for this, it is very useful ! A question: is it possible to directly create the entry for the reading notes with the corresponding headings (:PROPERTIES:) without first clicking on the cite: link?

Sure, put your cursor on the key, then M-x org-ref-open-notes-at-point It is not bound to any key.

Do you mean something like: pag 34, cite:somekey? The best way to do that is manually.

I was thinking about exporting the citation such that in latex it appears as \cite[pg. X]{key}

How can I unload/disable org-ref when I do not need anymore? I tried to upload it as a mode but it has sort of circular dependency with other modes... Thanks

The only way I know to disable it is to comment out the line that loads it in your init file, and restart emacs.
